The West vs. East imbalance is historically bad this year, nobody would even be talking about it if there weren't teams in the west who didn't make the playoffs that would have gotten the 3 seed in the East.

Only real way to fix it is to play a balanced schedule, scrap the conferences, and seed 1 through 16. It's just not realistic because of travel during the regular season.

sure it is with road trips. they aalready do it to some degree.

Keep the divisions scrap the conferences. You simply alternate road weeks with home weeks. Each road week means you are playing against teams in one division.

I don't think it would be quite as simple as you make it out to be. I'm sure it's possible for a computer to generate a schedule that would work, but it's not going to be as simple as home week/ road week.

Then you have to weigh whether or not you want to give up rivals playing more often in order to fix a problem that really isn't a problem. It's not the norm for the east and west to be so far apart in terms if quality.
