Is Gott significantly taller than all the other coaches or did they give him an extra cushion?

Quote :
"Statistically, the 2015-16 NC State men's basketball team is the most athletic squad the Wolfpack has had since Mark Gottfried came to Raleigh.

Equal parts recruiting and player development have the Wolfpack's athletic measurements testing off the charts.

"The fact that our physical characteristics are clearly above that of the average college basketball team is a credit to our recruiting and the efforts of our players," NC State Assistant AD/Strength and Conditioning Bob Alejo said. "This is, statistically, the most physically-gifted team we've had since Coach Gottfried came here."

The Wolfpack welcomed Brett Brungardt and his team from BAM (Basic Athletic Measurement) Testing to the Dail Basketball Center earlier this fall. Brungardt's team has measured the Wolfpack players each fall since 2012, making NC State the first college basketball team to experience the official athletic testing of the NBA Draft combine.

"Statistically, we get better every single year," Alejo said. "This has been proven by us hiring BAM Testing, which is an outside, independent testing organization that makes the results completely valid and reliable. We can accurately see, physically, who we are against the NBA average and the NBA Draft combine average."
The BAM Testing organization, which has conducted widespread measurements across college basketball and recently with the All-American Bowl in high school football, has tested 355 NBA Draft prospects at the league combine in Chicago since 2009. NC State has three players who rank in the top five all-time in certain athletic categories, placing themselves favorably against future and current NBA athletes.

"I think that's noteworthy," the long-time strength coach Alejo added. "NC State relies heavily on the developmental process. We compare our guys against the best – future NBA players."

BAM TESTING CATEGORIES
Standing Vertical Jump; Approach Vertical Jump; 3/4 Court Sprint; Reaction Shuttle; 4-Way Agility Drill

HIGHLIGHTS (compared to 355 NBA Draft prospects since 2009)

Terry Henderson
- 42-inch approach vertical jump is tied for third among all shooting guards since 2009 (ranks fourth all-time among all players)
- 2.916 second reaction shuttle stands ninth among shooting guards (26th all-time among all players)

Abdul-Malik Abu
- 41.5-inch approach vertical jump is the best all-time among power forwards
- 2.925 second reaction shuttle ranks second all-time among power forwards and is 27th among all players

Caleb Martin
- 2.735 second reaction shuttle is the all-time fastest time, faster than any NBA Draft prospect since 2009
- 10.89 second 4-way agility ranks 27th all-time among guards and 78th all-time among all players

Anthony 'Cat' Barber
3.15 second 3/4 court sprint ranks 14th all-time among point guards and 30th all-time among all players"

He was quick as fuck laterally as well as his "2nd jump," so probably not too bad.

David Thompson's vertical was probably overrated though, right?

if lacey and washington stayed, we would definitely been a top 15 team. However, i prefer to stay a fringe top 25 team with the addition of rowan and our incoming 2016 class, we could actually be an ACC favorite next year (lets forget when we were post overhyped 2012 season)

everything i've heard is that cat will almost definitely leave after this season, regardless of whether it's NBA or overseas, it's already a done deal, and it's one of the reasons DSJ committed. (I have no insider information on that, only free message board discussions.)

Last update had Anya at ~280 with his goal being 275.

But he also started last season at ~290 and ended the season at ~315.

Losing Lacey obviously hurt, and Washington would've been useful for some post scoring if he could've reined in the whole thing where he shot it whenever he touched it, but I still think this year's team has the potential to be a top 25 team. The key is that Cat has to be the same type of player he was during the last 25% of the season. I think Abu, Anya and Henderson all end up some of the top players at their position in the ACC.

Henderson and Cat are the real deal...hopefully Malik keeps it up and this team becomes top 20 eventually, I think.

They're gonna be better than a lot of people think.

Didnt see this posted anywhere.

http://www.wralsportsfan.com/pnc-arena-set-to-undergo-multimillion-dollar-facelift/15025140/

Quote :
"PNC Arena, home of the Carolina Hurricanes and NC State Wolfpack, could get a new look as a multi-million dollar facelift is in order.

The additions and renovations to the arena will be partially cosmetic and partially functional improvements, according to Centennial Authority Executive Director Jeff Merritt.

The arena's Centennial Authority Board met Monday with architects from Ratio and HOK to look over planned enhancements to PNC Arena.

“The proposed enhancement project will help maintain PNC Arena as a world-class facility; positioning the region to further attract elite sports and entertainment events,” said board Chairman Tom McCormick.

The fan- and visitor-friendly changes to the South end will be largely renovation, with slight additions.

The arena, which opened Oct. 29, 1999, currently seats 19,722 for basketball games and 18,680 for hockey games. It also boasts 66 luxury suites (which were fully renovated in 2010) and 2,000 club seats. The arena also got a full LED lighting upgrade in the summer of 2014.

PNC Arena is owned by Centennial Authority and operated by Gale Force Sports and Entertainment -- a division of the Carolina Hurricanes. The latest renovations do not call for any change to the seating capacity.

While the project is being described as “multi-million dollar,” by the Centennial Authority, there is no official cost estimate yet. If the authority’s Board approves the proposed plan, the design team will begin putting together a more concrete cost estimate.

Ratio and HOK Architects are the designers working with the authority to set the current plan and would also be the responsible parties for coming up with the cost estimate.

I've visited a few other arenas for NCAAB & NHL games, and of the ones I've been too PNC as it currently stands remains a better venue than the majority of them. The changes sound pretty nice though. My main hope is that eventually some restaurants & bars will eventually pop up around the arena.
