Well, uninspiring win, but I'll take it. We should have scored TDs on our first 2 drives. Defense looks in midseason form even without Star and Keeks in the second half, lets hope the offense catches up quick. 9/13/2015 3:55:35 PM |

the networks won't lock-in broadcast teams without knowing what the game will look like/how widely broadcast the game is

BACK ON TOPIC...
Defensively -- Is there a better set of CBs in the league than Norman, Bene, and Tilman? They made play after play today. Our pass rush wasn't great today, but our secondary made them look good.
Offensively -- Cotch made the play of the day IMO. 4th quarter, 3rd and long, backed up in our end, he catches a duck from Cam and powers through two defenders to get the 1st down. That was awesome effort. We basically grinded the game away after that play. 9/13/2015 4:48:24 PM |

^I thought that would be a penalty for sure. I wonder if that's what he does to Cam in practice to piss him off. More power to him, he had a hell of a game.
Only thing I'm a little disappointed in was the run game, and maybe the O-line in general. I would have like to seen us line up and run over them, especially in the middle of the game (we ran well early, but later relied too much on throwing too many short dinks IMO).
Still a solid win. Lots of people picking J-ville to have a relative turnaround compared to the dumpster fire we've all come to expect. 9/14/2015 8:22:49 AM |

Yeah pretty good game over all. The offensive line was worse than I expected, especially against a team without much front 7 talent. Oher's 2 sacks were the most glaring but in general we weren't getting much push up front. The other preseason worries manifested themselves in the early drops and weak playcalling by Shula. Defense gave up some big runs but they shut things down in the second half and picked up where they left off late last season. We'll see how the Failcons look tonight, but nothing about the Saints or Bucs (lol) gave me pause, we still look like the class of the division.

The o-line looked awful. I'll take the win, but we're lucky we were up against Jacksonville. If they keep playing like that we're in big trouble, especially without Benjamin to throw it up to. The WR we have need time to get open.
At some point, the Panthers front office has to do something to improve the line. They've gone in other directions over the last two drafts. I understand and largely agree with the drafting the best player available strategy. And they've been unable to go after free agents given the cap issues Hurney left them with. I understand the limitations.
But at some point, this has to be a priority. You pay Cam $20 million a year, let's protect him and give him time to do his job. 9/14/2015 11:04:01 AM |

Perhaps this is a sign that the guy can come up with a good gameplan and plays for a drive, but isnt very good at calling a game on the fly. A lot of teams script their first X many plays or first drive and so everyone kinda knows what they are gonna do to start the game. I have no idea if they do or not but seems like an explanation of why teams would have good opening drives and then fall off from there.9/14/2015 11:15:24 AM |

Judging by how he looked right after the hit, I highly doubt he passes the concussion protocol to be eligible to play against Houston. Luckily, the Texans' offense is pedestrian at best (I think they're going to start Ryan Mallett at QB?), and Klein played well enough in Luke's place yesterday that our defense should be able to easily handle Houston's offense even without our best player. The big question is, is our offense going to be able to handle Houston's defense? Gonna be tough, the way we looked yesterday. But hey, we're 1-0!! 9/14/2015 12:17:52 PM |
