S9's are great so far. go for the S9-HD's if you don't mind the price difference. i haven't had any problems with the buttons yet but the percentage of ppl that do is pretty high. they're uncomfortable at first but you wont feel them after a while.. i actually watched about 2 hours of video and used them as headphones for my computer at work today. worked pretty good. haven't worked out with them much yet though. i'm planning on running tomorrow with them so i'll see. battery life i can't say much about. they lasted fine for the 2 hrs today. i haven't used them enough to really say how long they last though

as for the jailbreaking.. upgrading is basically like this: you do apple's update then have to jailbreak again then have to reinstall all of your cyndia apps again. so.. it's kind of a pain in the ass.

i don't know wtf is going on, but my iPhone gets email before my computer web client does.. seriously. .i hear the "bink" on my phone and then like 10sec later my computer shows the new msg. seems sorta like its pushing...

^The only app I know of that does that is Intelliscreen, and no it's not legit.

I would have assumed that most people are like me and sleep with the iphone a) turned on and b) near the bed. I can't imagine having my phone make noise every time I get an email especially in the middle of the night. Do you just turn your phone off when you go to sleep, or put it in the other room, or are you just heavy sleepers or what?

^I guess i'm just a heavy sleeper, I basically sleep with it right next to my head and have never been woken up by it, and I get like 20 emails every night.

I keep mine on vibrate...it doesn't wake me up.

On the other hand, it's also easy to miss calls while awake when the phone's not within a foot of me.

I keep mine on regular at night usually and it never wakes me up. I got about 20 emails last night.. Texts will sometimes wake me up but not emails.

my brother was stranded 5 miles offshore last night in a POS 19' boat with no vhf radio. the gps on the boat didn't work and his handheld gps had died. he called seatow, who of course had to know where he was. matthew had a faint idea but couldnt tell them exactly, then remembered his phone. he gave them the coordinates according to the iphone and the rescue ppl said they were dead on. it was dark by the time they got there. i would have crapped my pants several times by then.

wtf are you asking? it should be downloading email every x number of minutes you have it set for under the mail settings. it'll beep when it gets something.. not complicated

I just got my bluetooth adapter for my car. It's a Kensington LiquidAUX. The music sounds great, but the remote that came with the adapter does absolutely nothing. I know the 3.0 firmware only supports a limited set of remote commands, but the remote has play/pause, fwd, back, phone, and a middle button, and none of them do anything. Anybody know anything about that?

So, maybe my iPhone is messed up or something, but how the hell do you get the bar with the FF/Rew and Genius controls to pop up now. On my iPod Touch with 2.0, you just hold your finger over the album art and it pops up, but that doesn't seem to be the case on my phone with 3.0.

Is there something I'm missing here?

^I don't know about 3GS, but for 3G, I think it's as simple as:

Settings\General\Home: iPod Controls -> ON

Maybe that's not what you're looking for, but hopefully it helps.

To complete the discussion we were having a couple of weeks ago re: games made specifically for the 3GS, here's an article detailing the plans of some higher end iphone developers.

you have to have music already playing. Then you double click the home button and the iPod shortcut keys will pop up. Also the option has to be enabled in your settings->general

No, I know about that one. I'm not looking for the shortcut keys. I'm looking for the bar that appears under the Title bar here:



See where the timeline bar, Genius icon, repeat, etc. are? That's what I can't get to pop up normally.

not trying to make you feel inferior at all because i barely know the shorcuts to this thing, but does the single tap on the album art not get it to pop up like normal?

and there are no ipod controls when in landscape album flow mode is there?




and back to 3.0, are the call and ringer issues you guys were having fixed yet? still hesistant to upgrade

I don't know what I'm doing wrong I've gotten it to pop up a handful of times, but can never replicate it (reliably) if it goes away.

You tap the middle of the screen and that pops up. noob you can also vary the scrub rate of the FF/RW by sliding your finger up and down as you FF/RW

I mean, I know that much -- like I said, I have a Touch and it should be the same principle. It started working at random though.
