^^^, ^^ Hold on you guys, don't let the red glasses shield your vision from common sense. A 37% career 3 point FG average is pretty fucking good. He's no JJ Redick, but hitting a three at least once out of every 3 shots is something most players can't do.
And Royboy's pointing out that this has nothing to do with the football investigation? Priceless.

was Graves the one who was like the only person on team last year who could actually shoot? If he was dismissed that is actually a big deal because he was really clutch for them, they would have lost a lot more than they did if it weren't for him. 10/8/2010 9:27:01 AM |

You really believe that a senior was kicked off the team his last year because his grades??? College kids don't get dumber. Out of all the dumbass athletes that struggle maintaining grades they pick this guy on UNCs most beloved sport???
Sounds to me like they are trying to make UNC basketball a sport at UNC that "cares more about the grade than the sport." Please.

Oh and ya'll can let go of that "they don't have any shooters" theory.
Bullock has that role on lock down. But with only 10 scholly players, they'll hit the wall sooner than later.
The NC State/ UNC basketball rivalry will heat back up this year. State is looking damn good.

Before his UNC stint one of the first things that would pop up when you googled John Blake was an article describing him bringing wichard into his locker room and on his sidelines and the NCAA investigation which resulted from that. IF I CAN FIND THE INFORMATION WTF ARE THEY TRYING TO SAY! No one in the entire athletic department know how to use a computer? So what if the NCAA found no actual violations the first time. The fact that the NCAA was concerned enough to make a visit is certainly a "red flag". The fact that Blake is still doing the same thing is absolutely laughable.10/8/2010 10:57:09 AM |

So the big PackPride insider who has been hitting bullseye with all his information says that Butch is gone after the Duke. Apparently this was decided at the BOG meeting yesterday.
Apparently there is also a 2 page thread on IC Premium that says the same thing and it hasn't been deleted yet.
I don't see why they would wait honestly. And if it leaks, hopefully they'll just go ahead and pull the trigger. 10/8/2010 1:50:53 PM |

I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but that's not exactly a bold prediction. I mean, the writing on the wall says that Davis is gone. The logical time to do so is at the end of the season to try and prevent the exponential increase of stress, confusion, discontinuity, and bad press around your program.
I know that WaffleIron has been spot on in a few instances, but he was also one of the ones that was claiming "biblical" punishment coming down several weeks ago, and we've yet to see anything come to fruition. If Davis is fired at the end of the season, then he looks like a true "insider," if not, then there's enough time between now and than that "things can change."
I get the feeling he's Miss Cleo'ing everybody. 10/8/2010 2:42:51 PM |

^The insiders have been claiming biblical punishment...but they never say when. The one time recently that one of them predicted something was the week before the Tutor got outed...and they were just a few days off. Same thing happened with the Yahoo! article on the Wichard and Blake payments. They said a national media outlet was about to come up with something big and kept saying "follow the money."
This one seems valid because there was BIG Board of Governor's meeting yesterday, and after that meeting there were no more "rah rah rahs" from Thorpe and Baddour. After this meeting, they mentioned that the investigation would take much longer, that bad news would be coming of it, and the general tone was just completely different than what it had been.
The only thing I'm questioning is...if you've already made the decision, why not just go ahead and fire him?? And if you want to wait...now that shit is leaking, you might as well go ahead and do it now. This should be an interesting couple of weeks. 10/8/2010 2:51:22 PM |

You guys are too hasty. They have ALL the reason in the world to take their time with firing him.
1. The media circus is picking up a bit, but its still small potatoes for those not involved with the ACC. Fire your coach and you bring more attention to yourselves. The NCAA investigation will take a year, so methinks there will be a slow trickle of info until then, which will keep this on the low.
2. They can still do decently this season if the stars align for them. Fire your coach and you lose any chance you have. Correct me if I am wrong, but as long as they don't play ineligible players, they can "keep" this season and any bowls associated with it, correct?
3. OK, say they hear about all this alleged corruption in the program and they immediately fired Butch. What would happen if they then found similar corruption with another sport, say Basketball. You immediately fired your last coach they found with that problem. You would look pretty hypocritical if you did not immediately fire Williams as well. Williams is the coach they want in the sport they want. They are just being cautious. Their players are dumb, not their administration. 10/8/2010 3:17:26 PM |

Ya'll seriously need to learn how to celebrate. Stop worrying about what people think of state fans enjoying the downfall of unc.
-Lack of institutional control - imminent
-Best defensive player gone - done
-Best offensive player gone - done
-Other very good players missing games - done
- Butch to be run out of town - the fat lady is about to sing
- Baddour run out of town - imminent
- unc academic prestige permanently scarred - done
- general failure of cultivation of a football culture in chapel hill - done
- investigations spilling over into basketball - see graves dissmisal/ imminent
- daily parades in the streets of raleigh - crickets
Let loose people. They are done. Its ok to feel good about this, I promise. 10/8/2010 4:00:53 PM |

I'd be fine if this investigation uprooted the UNC baseball program and left the basketball program intact. NCAA sanctions wouldn't really hurt UNC basketball long-term, but it could tear apart the improvements they've made in baseball. 10/8/2010 6:32:32 PM |
