I feel like we've got a pretty solid, well-rounded class that will provide lots of depth (see the depth chart on the PP boards). Nothing flashy. It'd be nice to get a couple 4/5*s to round out the class.

I was wondering if he was the brother of Virginia Tech's Brandon Flowers, but I was wrong - Brandon was from Florida.

On paper:

Special Teams:

We needed big time special teams players and it looks like we might have them. Sade is going to be a baller. Like I said before, TOB's classes are not highly ranked on paper, but he does a pretty good job of picking out solid players. He's like the Billy Beane of football. Ok, that's a stretch, but he knows who he wants regardless of what others see.

25 starters in the NC game were 2 or 3 star recruits out of high school. Conversely only 2 were 5 star recruits.

"WR Hakeem Flowers (6-3 189) of Wade Hampton will make his decision publicly on January 23rd at his school. He has set the time for 7:15 p.m. "Right now, my favorites are Oregon, LSU, and Michigan," said Flowers. Flowers has already taken an official visit to Michigan but is a little unsure of any other trips he could take. His plans to visit Oregon may not pan out. "I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it out there," he said. "It's not that big of a deal though because I've already been there before." The schools showing the most interest in him are Michigan, Michigan State, and NC State. He has a visit to NC State tentatively scheduled for January 14th. "It's not written down or nothing [sic], so we'll see what happens," said Flowers. "I want to go." He did not name a favorite."

"inside the 40...that's pretty easy" ?

does he mean anything inside a 57 yard kick is easy?

wow, how many drives would we have put at least 3 pts on the board instead of going for it in that tweener range?

He probably means anything inside of a 40-yard kick.

I don't think Hakeem Flowers is visiting, I remember a post a while back by Steve that said we weren't going to get an OV.

The "no weaknesses", followed by a laugh was pretty funny.

I think "inside the 40" meant from his perspective, so basically anything inside of a ~45 yarder.

I have a feeling that TOB will bring him in just to see if he can stretch him a little bit early on in the season against the cupcakes, and we'll see him boot a 55+ yarder like that Florida State kicker against Clemson this year. That was a fucking kick.

He's a safety (6'3" 186lbs 4.6 40 yard dash according to rivals). Had an offer from Virginia Tech as well.

Juniors can't officially 'commit' until after signing day of their junior year. Texas pulls in half its class on that day.

I don't think that's right. I think they can commit whenever they want, provided they have an offer. I don't think they can receive a formal offer until August 1st of their Senior Year of high school:

Quote :
"Prior to August 1 of a prospective student-athlete's senior year in high school, an institution shall not provide a written offer of athletically related financial aid or indicate in writing to the prospective student-athlete that an athletically related grant-in-aid will be offered by the institution. On or after August 1 of a prospective student-athlete's senior year in high school, an institution may indicate in writing to a prospective student-athlete that an athletically related grant-in-aid will be offered by the institution; however, the institution may not permit the prospective student-athlete to sign a form indicating his or her acceptance of such an award before the initial signing date in that sport in the National Letter of Intent program. (Revised: 4/29/10 effective 8/1/10)
"

They can give a verbal offer, where the school says "we want you to come here and you have an offer" and they can accept a commitment. Remember, Chris Leak was committed to Wake Forest when he was in 9th grade.

Yeah, I used the word 'commit' loosely because it's not a binding contract in any way. They just show up on scout on that date.

^ wow, can't believe you were forced to explain that, i think most everyone knew what you meant.

Interesting... WR/DB Jonathan Hough of Wadesboro (Stephone Anthony's teammate) looks like he may be visiting. Maybe an indication we're willing to do a package deal to get Anthony??
