He's listed at LB on rivals/scout. Is he changing position or was the DB a typo?

This is what he said in a recent interview:
Quote : | ""My Milford profile has me listed as a defensive end or linebacker but that's all wrong because I play safety," said Noel. "That's what the NC State coaches said they would want me to play if I go there." |

That was before the university decided to terminate and buy out the remainder of then-head coach Ralph Friedgen's contract late last month, and tapped UConn head coach Randy Edsall as Friedgen's successor.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Noel was part of two Division 1 Super Bowl champion squads at Everett, alongside his older brother Jim, who is currently a defensive back at Boston College. He is also the older brother of Nerlens, a 6-foot-10 center at Tilton (N.H.) who is currently ranked by ESPN as the No. 3 overall player nationally in the Class of 2013." |

I'm pretty happy with this class. We've given out 16 of our 19 schollies. All of the recruits are 3*s except Noel, who is a 4* (according to rivals) and the 3 special-teamers who are supposedly some of the best kicker/punter/long-snapper high-schoolers in the country at their position.
We're adding depth at pretty much every position except running back and tight end, which we already have depth at. See the depth chart near the bottom of PP thread: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=178&f=2515&t=6797451&p=20
hopefully we're not quite done yet, a 5* LB could be icing, but the "guys in the know" on the public PP board aren't as hopeful about Anthony as they once were. but we're still getting sophomore LB EJ Carter, who has a year of experience at Syracuse (was on the all big east rookie team) and has practiced with the team for a year.

yea, this is good news on the Jones/Flowers commitments.
the few highlights of saw of Flowers looks like he's got TJGraham speed but he's a natural wide receiver so he has all the instincts that I think TJ lacks at times, we'll see, but excited nonetheless. 1/24/2011 5:45:24 AM |

^^How many of those were commitable offers though? 1/24/2011 6:56:20 AM |
LudaChris All American 7946 Posts user info edit post |
^I would say most if not all. He was originally committed to Michigan and backed out when they changed head coaches. Rumors surfaced yesterday that Oregon MIGHT have pulled their scholly yesterday since they had a 3-star WR commit yesterday, so they already had 3-4 WRs committed(1 4-star, 3 3-star). But he stated that he had committed to our coaches on Saturday, so at the time he committed it was still a commitable offer.
I'm not sure if I'd compare him to Graham or Jarvis Williams or a hybrid. Scout says he has "track star speed" but then his 40 time is 4.5 which really isn't blistering it for a top-flight high school WR. And then he's 6-2/6-3 and a good route runner. So I'm not really sure what to expect because of differing reports. Heck ESPN says he needs to work on his "quickness" and "getting separation". But if he plays like JW5, then count me in.
I think he'll turn out to be a solid pick-up in a couple of years after red-shirting and adding some weight/muscle. 1/24/2011 8:08:10 AM |

Quote : | "Linebacker Stephone Anthony of Wadesboro, N.C., visited Virginia Tech over the weekend. He will visit North Carolina this weekend, and that will be his final visit. He also has been to Clemson and Florida.

Yeah it's true, Anthony is no longer visiting NC State this weekend, he told our coaches on Wed. that he'd be here and then on Friday called them and canceled. Most speculating that UNC/Ellerbe talked him out of visiting us at all. So we're a long-shot at best. The PP mods went as far as to say that it's such a long shot that they feel State should stop recruiting those three guys(Anthony, Ellerbe, and Hough), which I tend to agree with. We were told we'd get the last visit early in the process, without a visit, no way we land him and it sounds like we're just an after-thought at this point. 1/24/2011 2:14:13 PM |

40 times are a joke anyway. You can make a person go from a 4.5 to a 4.3 by switching from your index finger to your thumb for operating the stopwatch.1/24/2011 2:56:47 PM |
