It seems like the values are always LOW as shit. I am guessing its just what the NCAA can prove with receipts, etc. With multiple trips, diamonds, etc. I am guessing the benefit to these two kids was easily 20k, and marv probably at 40-50k++++

sorry for the 2x post, but the more these UNC folks talk the more they sound like they are only sorry they got caught.

According to Baddour Butch told the three that the NFL would be watching how they handled this. Maybe he said more, maybe he read them the riot act, but... advising them on the NFL in a meeting like this sounds like misplaced priorities.

there were multiple trips, it was tough to see who was representing whom and who was a friend and what not, you should think about it in terms of benefits and preferential treatment. all of those dollar amounts count the same. what is different with agent is no evidence of commitments to agents.

are you concerned with NCAA sanctions on program?
yes, we have contacted NCAA laying out our plan as we move forward on 2 or 3 occassions. They have sent someone to help but that process is going to take awhile. I remain, we have a strong compliance program in place in all of these areas and anyone that looks at that program sees we are doing more than needed to protect individuals, obviously we need to do more and we are commited to that. that part will have to evolve.

are you personally disappointed?
absolutely. its particulary disappointing because at the beginning because davis, myself and compliance people were in front of student athletes about importance of honesty. Of course I am disappointed that these things occured prior to our knowledge but once the process started that we didnt get from them what you would want to get.

can you give us reaction from family and players?
representing someone else is difficult to do, I have I great concern for them. I feel their disappointment..my expression...is letting their families and team mates down and letting university down. something we heard from all 3. think they were understanding. coach did a fantastic job of laying out that, this is the first day of the rest of their lives. they have a chance to establish a career in football or not and stressed importance of educational side. even described, putting words in his mouth, that NFL teams would be watching how they handle this and if they pursued education.

did any of the players explain why they did this?
some did, it varies. they got caught up in some things, we will leave it at that

did you sense remorse from the players?
yes, i def. felt remorse. I cant speak to the part about being caught but what I saw was genuine remorse.

What sort of things were in place to prevent this from happening?
coach is gonna talk some about the future. we need to do a better job, what went on was when school was not in session, coach already has a plan in place to deal with that. I agree, given magnitude of players that should have been on our radar. I wanna be careful because you do want to treat student athletes like students as much as you can. We should have been doing something else and acknowledged the level that these guys are. Believe me this staff is preaching it, I know Butch would agree.

as far as NCAA goes, a bowl game is in the grasp..would NCAA give you any indiciation of potential?
Let me see if i can help, we are dealing with crisis. to understand what issues are for athletes and if they have opportunity to get back on field, that stage 1, stage 2 what else should we be looking at that isnt a crisis but may put us in that position, third stage is future, what is the details of our compliance part. help us out. it is not saying that NCAA has concluded that their are institutional issues, there is a lot of smoke around here. we gotta look, go deep and they are gonna help us. It takes awhile. I feel very strong about our compliance program, football program and other programs. I am gonna fight the institutional control issues because of the program we had in place.

You said you are going to fight Institutional control, are you fearful that NCAA will say that?
im not fearful but we have to anticipate the questions the NCAA may ask. He is not gonna operate this program in fear, we are gonna control it in a first class way, make adjustments and move forward.

The 'kids' made some poor choices, but don't forget there was someone on the coaching staff facilitating those poor choices.

Really hate how Davis is tossing the players under the bus and lying all the blame on them, like Blake never even existed. Here's a hint. It's impossible to educate the players on taking benefits when you are facilitating the provision of said benefits.

North Carolina has lost defensive tackle Marvin Austin, defensive end Greg Little and wide receiver Robert Quinn to college football's player agent scandal.

North Carolina announced it had dismissed Austin from the team, while the NCAA said Little and Quinn have been ruled permanently ineligible by its student-athlete reinstatement staff. All three were implicated in an agent scandal for accepting impermissible benefits, and Little and Quinn were additionally cited for lying to investigators.

North Carolina said it based its decision on Austin on information gathered as part of its joint investigation with the NCAA.

UNC athletic director Dick Baddour and football coach Butch Davis were expected to address the decision at a regularly scheduled news conference at 11:30 a.m. ET.

"It's a sad day when three young men are no longer able to represent their school based on actions they have taken and decisions they have made contrary to NCAA rules," Baddour said in a prepared statement. "Unfortunately, they made serious mistakes in judgment in accepting extra benefits and then not being truthful with our staff and NCAA representatives."

"As an institution, we must learn from these mistakes and work with the NCAA and others who love the game of football to repair the environment in which they occurred," Baddour said. "College football is a wonderful game, but we need to closely examine and address the agent-related problems. The University of North Carolina pledges to do all it can to do that."

The NCAA found unethical conduct charges against Little and Quinn for providing false and misleading information, saying they were not truthful during three separate interviews with university and NCAA enforcement staff members.

North Carolina did not seek to have Austin reinstated by the NCAA.

The NCAA is also looking into allegations that a tutor who used to work for Davis wrote papers for a number of Tar Heels players, including Austin, Little and Quinn.

Austin had been suspended from the team since Sept. 1 for violating unidentified team rules.

None of the three has played in games this season due to the probe.

Austin, Little and Quinn were among thirteen North Carolina players who were held out of the Tar Heels' season-opening game against LSU for violations of school and/or NCAA rules. The NCAA later suspended cornerback Kendric Burney for six games and safety Deunta Williams for four for receiving improper benefits.

Austin, Little and Burney were among six players who opted in January to return for their senior seasons instead of entering the NFL draft, while Quinn, a junior, is widely considered to be a high first-round pick.

The NCAA first visited the campus in July focused on whether Austin and Little received improper benefits from agents.
