I love the panic. The ACC home teams are something like 25-9 overall. And I think only about half the conference has won on the road. Everyone except for basically Miami is struggling on the road, and we only lost by a few points combined in both our road losses. We will finish top three in the ACC, hopefully at least make the conference championship game and then hopefully make a decent tournament run.

Did anyone seriously think we were only going to lose 2-3 games in conference?

When you have a good team, the fans expect them to win games against bad teams, and lose games (with the hope of an upset) against very good teams. We had some kind of vague expectation to only lose 5 games (duke x2, unc x2, md) prior to conference play. Since we blew a game against WF, the desperation level to "make up for it" has gone up, yet confidence is down since we feel vulnerable from that loss.

I think people were mostly upset about the losses because they were because we played terribly in general, instead of the other team having an actual good night. It's frustrating to watch a team that played well against duke/uconn/stanford implode against wake/md.

In the end, some solace can be found in the fact that many ranked teams are suffering upsets on a weekly basis.

I don't think many of us came into the season expecting to be a bubble team, which we clearly are at this point.

Top that off with the chance of getting swept by UNC during one of their down seasons again and state fans have every right to panic.

We aren't as good of a team as we were at the end of last season. That is scary.

I agree UMD played terribly, but Wake? The second half was as good as they've played in the past three years. No one had even heard of Devin Thomas before this game, and he goes out and scores 25 and grabs 14 rebounds.

Speaking of which, it's getting really old watching these ACC big guys have career nights against us: Thomas, Trevor Booker, Ryan Anderson ... I'm scared James Michael McAdoo is gonna rip us apart Saturday.

I firmly believe it's because Big Rich was told to lay off on the agressive defense. If he were to play tough and bang around down there he would done for the game with 10 min left.

It makes some sense, because if we play aggressive defense, our 6 man team will foul out. If we put in players to play aggressive defense, we don't have our core 6 to score enough points. Kinda fucked by our lack of depth.
