everyone who knows sports knows defense is more important than offense but many people here dont so i'll continue to explain

anyone can make an open shot.

anyone can make a layup every night.

you don't have to be good at offense to do these things. they are basic.

good defense prevents these things at a high rate.

the better defensive team is going to have more easy scores and the other team will have to work harder to keep up/win.

This isn't last year where barely beating a bad team almost feels like a loss. Any ACC win is worth celebrating this year.

Our zone was as effective as it's been in years. Also, the last play call to get Warren the game-winner was a great call.

Best of all, we finally went small and played Warren some at the 4. Hopefully we see more of that in the future. GG Gott.

I don't think this is the game to criticize Gott. And I'm not an unabashed Gott supporter...I try to be objective. Going zone was a great move and it paid off. We surrendered a few too many offensive boards in the zone (and throughout the entire game) but we were active defensively in the zone and forced a few turnovers. That was the difference in the game imo

I do think the defense has been a little better in general this year. I don't know if that's my imagination and the stats probably don't bear it out, but I feel like our current group is more aggressive trying to get after guys, especially on the perimeter.

great win. i didnt watch but was shocked to see the score and am glad we were able to outscore them. we're back on the bubble now regardless of what face says. a top 7 finish would be a successful season in or out and the acc will get 6-8 teams in so we're smack on the bubble now and doing well. glad he turned it around.
