3 cashes for over $1k each online today ($1,100 for 11th in $109r, $1500 for ~70th in $1,000 tourney on Titan Poker (sick overlay there - was $1 million guaranteed and they got 568 players), and $2,100 for 6th in Paradise's $500)... also cashed in the $200 $200k guar. on UB and the $200 $150k guar. on Paradise along with a few other smaller cashes.
So all total on the day online (just playing tourneys)... I lost $320. C'est la vie. 7/17/2006 5:39:18 AM |

also, what was your reasoning to only raising to 21k and leaving yourself with 15k in the stars hand you went out on? was there a reason not to just open shove there? 7/17/2006 9:05:35 AM |

i want to punch myself for going back to borgata yesterday after the awesomeness that was friday night.
=(
go from running so hot to soooo cold....
was getting good starting hands, playing well, just couldnt have anything hold up on the river for 8 hours straight.
kind of an interesting story here too, one that youll make fun of me for, considering how i preach roll management and playing in your game yada yada yada.
well, as an exercise of something i dont know, i decided last sunday to only take $200 and turn that into a playable roll for my ac ventures.
sunday -> thursday, had managed to run it into about 1k.
started off at a 1/2 nl, when i got up to 400, ->6/12 lhe get up to 800 -> 10/20 lhe, been stagant there for a bit.
firday night had ~900 on me to start, got into a nice 10/20 game, ran well. up to 1700. bought into a 20/40 game. up to 2100.
blew off 800 playing craps like a total degenerate, back to 1300.
back to 20/40.
up to 2400 in 2 hours.
was running so hot. like, having the proverbial AA vs AK on a AK2 board hot.
went home.
went back last night,
in 6 hours had aces lose 7 consecutive times, and kings lose all three times i had them.
flopped 3 sets to lose every single pot, yikes.
managed a 25 BB loss for the afternoon.
blehhhhhh.
not running hot anymore, thats for sure. 7/17/2006 9:10:02 AM |

that's one of my tricks... and I swear it works amazingly well
Generally, in that situation, if I don't want a call, I make "standard" raise that does not put me all in... it's usually about half my stack... if I want a call, I just push. People pretty much always interpret the non-all in there as big strength, and the all in push as weakness.
Pretty straightforward, eh?7/19/2006 12:27:10 AM |
NoidRoid All American 7642 Posts user info edit post |
but.. but.. aren't you afraid of looking silly if they push and you have to fold? 7/19/2006 12:53:44 AM |

oh I thought that was referring to a continuation bet you made whilst missing the flop, thus you wouldn't want a call. surely you could fold K high or an underpair to the board despite having just bet half your chips. 7/19/2006 2:53:00 PM |

i dont think he would here.
if he's betting half his stack preflop instead of pushing, then he's playing short to begin with, and pretty much cant get away from his hand, even with the most unfavorable flops.
from watching jon play, he doesnt seem to hold to the traditional M push ranges, but allows himself to get lower with waiting for a favorable time.7/19/2006 3:11:41 PM |

playing in a $15k tournament yesterday on pokerroom (only have the java client, so i couldn't save the transrcipt).
I'm on the BB with about 20K in chips and get AA
UTG bets 5k and everyone else folds back to me. I raise to 10k, and he goes all-in, and I call.
He shows 88
flop comes 8A8.

this was my last true rackback account. used to have one on the party network, that affillate broke down, this used to be on party too, but now it was on pokerroom.
this pisses me off to no end, and will cost me close to 4 digits a month in potential rakeback.

Turner raises to $8,000 from under-the-gun and Josh Van Duyn re-raises to $20,000 and Turner calls which puts himself all-in. Turner shows 8diamondJdiamond and Van Duyn has AclubQclub. The flop is 7club4diamond3heart and Turner is still good. The turn is an Adiamond and now Van Duyn has the lead. The river is a 4heart and Turner is eliminated in 25th place cashing in for $6,436.

So in reading various poker books, they all advise record keeping. Do y'all keep records? What stats to you record? How do you organize it? 7/21/2006 8:32:44 AM |
David0603 All American 12764 Posts user info edit post |
I used to keep track of my hourly rate when I was playing a lot. I would just check all the website balances after I finished and then record them in excel. If you want to track hands you play I would suggest poker tracker. I know a number of people on here use it. Personally I fucking hate the invention. I've had people call out exact stats on me at a table and it really kills my game. That's why I usually bounce from site to site and switch usernames from time to time. 7/21/2006 8:35:52 AM |
moe All American 683 Posts user info edit post |
I keep track of every SNG, MTT and ring game session in an excel spreadsheet. I also use poker tracker, but I find it better and more reliable to just log sessions in excel. By record keeping you can find holes in your game and find which games you are most profitable.
Let me know and I can send you a copy of the excel template I use. 7/21/2006 8:47:52 AM |
pilgrimshoes Suspended 63151 Posts user info edit post |
the most important part of record keeping is for taxation reasons.
keeping statistical analysis is for your game (ie, pokertracker) 7/21/2006 9:56:20 AM |
