I have trouble with a traditional squat due to poor flexibility in my wrists. I know the arm should be straight but I am not that flexible. It doesn't cause me much pain though.

i need help with the power clean technique . any good videos?

What gym do you go to that you don't trust the employees?

I ran like...3.5 last night in the rain. Had a side stitch almost the whole time but didn't stop, so that was good.

^^i have the same issue. some gyms arent ran by people who are in it for fitness, but more for the money. especially depending on where your from and the options are limited. (ie -one of the gyms ive been too had ONE employee working at any given time and he or she was at the front desk checking people in)

i've seen a pt in a gym close to here that is really nice, but i would NOT pay him to train me.

i think its equivalent to a fat nutritionist (which there are several of these!). sure they may be certified, but c'mon.....

I hate running, but I got 2 miles running + a half mile walking cooldown after my back night at the gym yesterday.

This Morning
30 minutes of elliptical

This Evening
1-hour yoga class

Also, I'm skeptical about the trainers at Planet Fitness. They never seem extremely knowledgeable.

Yep. My gym has 3 staff members. Two are personal trainers, and if they are there they are always with clients. The other is the guy at the front desk.

I never am really good enough to worry about the details.

I'm either working out or not working out.

That is I'm either jogging and lifting the weights or I'm not.

I always wonder why most people would give a shit about the details. For 90% of people, just being in the gym or out running is 95% of the solution already.

Not true...

the women who spend 1 hour going 1mph on the recumbent bike with a Redbook in front of them are failing despite being in the gym.

Yeah, but sometimes these are the same people who reward themselves for working out by eating milkshakes and cookies.

^ It's rarely okay for anyone to eat that crap. Honestly, a clean diet is more important that exercise, but you really need both to be healthy.

so taking nutrition out of the equation - it IS better for someone to passively ride a stationary bike than nothing.

Yeah but these are the same women who lament about not getting any results. The reason is because the activity they're doing is so sedentary that it's practically causing no change in their bodies. It's a complete waste of their time.

as far as the diet is concerned, I have eaten so much healthier since the girl (now wife ) moved in. After I graduated I have been at least somewhat conscious of what I eat, but she is a good cook, and a health nut to an extent so its been awesome.

Yeah I mean, as long as that's not your only workout time.

I've seen the same fat women sitting on the recumbent bike for months, working themselves out just enough to get that "cute sweat" and then whining about how exercising doesn't work and how they should just accept the way they look since nothing they do will change their bodies.

Joie: Agreed

nastoute: If you can stay healthy and eat crap, great. But there are many great reasons to eat healthy foods. And although you may look healthy and eat crap, your arteries could tell an entirely different story.

My ex lost 40 lbs over the course of 5 months after we started dating. He said he was eating more food, but just better/healthier food since I was cooking and he wasn't running to Wendy's or a chinese place for dinner every night.

i'm pretty sure the belly fat and the arterial clogging are pretty correlated so...

worry about the one first and then see what has to be done later on down the line

but sure... I should stop with the bojangles and the cookout...

why don't I just put on a skirt and I can sashay right down the brickyard for all to enjoy

...

a previous girlfriend of mine lost 20 pounds when she started running with me

so BEING HEALTHY MAKES YOU HEALTHY

wowzers

That pretty much describes me. I lived for a long time eating terribly (ie college), and just because I stayed very active and always work out I stayed very thin and looked to be in great shape. My physicals/health checks were always reporting good numbers, but not near as low as I thought they should have been given my workout habits. Now that I am eating healthy AND working out a lot, my yearly work free health screening showed huge improvements in pretty much every category - without any change really in the intensity or amount of my workouts. I went from most of them being in the good/healthy category to nearly all in the highest category they measure. I pretty much attribute it to the huge diet change over the past 6 months.

Circuit Training:

30x30lb Ammo Can Lifts

5 Push-Ups

5 Pull-Ups

5 Log Lifts

0.5 Mile Run

Kept Ammo Can Lifts constant and run distance constant. Increased every subsequent set by 1 rep until 10.

Smoked the fuck out of me.
