I just reinstalled my OS on my desktop and i hooked my iPhone back up to it. It's saying the iPhone can only be syned with one iTunes library at a time. It gives me the option to ether Erase and Sync or Cancel. Will erase and sync fuck everything up on my iPhone?

basically you'll have to add all of your music and shit to your library, sync, and it'll erase/add everything back. the only thing it doesn't work very well on is apps. i've had it just delete everything before.. you can of course dl them all again for free and just sync them.

i can't open the iPhone under devices in windows 7. How do i get the pictures i took off of it?

-Oh and another thing. If i want to sync applications with iTunes. How do i do that? It says all applications on the iPhone will be replaced with what's on iTunes (nothing now). So there's no way to keep the apps on my iPhone the way i have them and also sync those with iTunes?

you have to download them all again to get them into itunes

and when you plug it in it should pop up a screen asking what you want to do when it's plugged in. just hit import

i thought as long as you unchecked "sync applications" in itunes it wouldn't mess with them. i could be wrong though

^true, but i'm wondering is the backup a complete backup of the iPhone right? So even if i don't have sync apps checked it will still back up all my apps on the iPhone?

Also if i don't check "sync apps" i will never be able to update/download apps on iTunes and sync them to my iPhone right? I'd have to always do it from the iPhone?

the backup of the iphone is not a complete backup as far as i know. it's just settings, texts, etc. i could be wrong..google it. i seem to remember it not including media, though.

^not really. That's a common misconception about the iphone. I'm pretty sure any AT&T smartphone costs the same for unlimited data/text. Both BB's and my last smartphone (WM) cost the same as the iPhone on AT&T. Also MMS cost more than normal texts with other phones so i'm sure they will with the iPhone unless that's changed.

Everyone is always like, "the iPhone plan is so expensive". No it's not. It's not any more expensive than any other smartphone plan.

-In fact now that they offer a $99 iPhone, the iPhone is one of the cheapest smart phones on the market considering you can pay $300-500 for other BB's or HTC smartphones. Data plan is $30 all across the board for AT&T no matter the phone. Same for texts. My monthly bill never changed when i switched to the iPhone.

and do they seriously charge for MMS on top of everything else? i know for a fact they didnt on my blackberry.

^Good point. A while back they had two data plans. One for $19/month and one for $30/month. One was for smartphones and one was for like pda phones or something. Little more than a year ago i believe they got rid of the $19 plan and just switched everything over to the $30 plan. So if you talk to anyone on AT&T with a blackberry or non-iPhone they will also be paying $30 a month for data.

I gave my little sister my old 1st gen iPhone with no sim card in it so she could use it as a touch. That was 2 weeks ago. I had a quick question about setting up email on my new iphone (didnt have time to read 100 pages)..I am trying to set up the phone with my ncsu.edu email and I do not know what the host name is for the incoming mail server or the outgoing mail server...does anyone have experience setting this up?

I tried to use my phone at the State game Thursday and the Tennessee game Saturday and couldnt do shit at either except text, and even that went in and out... was pissed off because one of the main reasons I got an iphone was to follow scores of other games while at a game and I couldnt do anything that involved any connection at all...

I assume this was just because the high concentration of people on AT&T's network in relatively small area but it was REALLY REALLY bad... I basically had an expensive clock for 4 hours.

any ideas?

this isn't an iphone issues, it's an AT&T network issue.

It's been that way for years. I remember going to myrtle beach back in 2002 (senior week, lol) and not being able to call or text or ANY thing because the network was so overloaded. The towers can only support a certain # of people.

turn your 3G off on the network settings...that's how i was finally able to get a call out at the game.
