the wired mics that come with 360s have a tendency to die after a lot of use, mainly from yanking it out of the controller itself which loosens the wire...you can extend the life of the mic by pulling it out of the controller by the plastic piece and not the wire itself

i recommend the bluetooth mic, although you can't use it while you charge it, which can be a pain
