I really don't think he could so consistently make himself look like a dumbass even if he tried.. It's really quite amazing that one person can say so much stupid shit, take so much verbal abuse and keep coming back for more

Nah...with registration, gas and other stuff I would be spending way too much, plus I have some papers to write that are due next week. I'll save my dough and go to Ocracoke for a fishing trip for Fall Break the next week.

nothing was that hardcore, but some are really tight between trees, and the occasional tank trap style mud pit that fucked people up. thats really due to the dry conditions, last year it rained nonstop and we could only run the bunny trails. but there are some really really steep drop-offs into the james river that were pretty sick. one of the drier ones someone was talking shit to a guy in a series saying he couldnt make it up again, so he did. then he stopped, threw it in reverse and backed down it. turned around and backed up it. those things are awesome. one drop-off in particular i did my best to get back up coming out of the river, ivan you would have been proud. ended up hitting it with the running start and still couldnt get the last little bit, had to winch up. toby sat on the hood and ran the winch with a screwdriver :busted: next guy came along and we went to hook his cable to a tree and there was a wolf spider sitting there that was the size of a tarantula.

i didnt get many pics, did a lot of driving. pics will surface here soon though.

"My quick commentary on the event:

It seems like ever since you could buy a Range Rover or Discovery for less than $4000 that this event has become more about truck bashing than Land Rover enthusiasts! You just dont see the same mentality anymore... there isnt the same appreciation for the marque as in years past. I'm not sure I'll go next year. Its getting to the point where it isnt worth the 12 hour drive.

we were the only folks who carried a cooler full of beer to the steak and shrimp dinner under the main tent. immediately after was the big auction, and we heckeled the poor people running it to death. every time they came out with a set of 2in springs or a tshirt to auction off we would yell "sell a fuckin hilift!"

they had one of those $10,000 campa tent trailer things there on display, i saw it get pissed on that night more than a few times. it was no tww garage meet but it was pretty fun.

i've never understood why rover people put those stupid full axle skids on. put some armor on the diff (pipe cap ftw) maybe truss the housing a little if you're really that worried about it, and beat the fawk out of it.

that thing is just a rock anchor/mud holder.

I agree. Thats a southdown skid on that truck, benefits to it are A. its an extra layer of metal for a rock to go through before it penetrates the diff and B. they are removable so you can resell them. Trouble is the complete set was about $2000 new from the dealer. I personally dont like them cause I always have to pull em off to work on trucks and like you said they hold a ton of mud.

But in defense of the guy whos truck is pictured above, he got it for $65 which isnt bad at all.

of course it depends on how well it is prepared, but the answer is until something broke or it rolled over.

that looks like a lot of fun, i would love to try it.

yeah, a lot of useless flex. notice the coil spring dropped out of the bucket by like 6 inches. pretty bad axle steer too it looks like, and i don't even want to guess at the anti squat numbers with links that short/angled. i bet it bucks like a bronco on climbs. BUT IT SURE DOES LOOK COOL!!!11

what kind of rims are those, anyway? i kinda like them. torque thrust-ish.

i understand some considerable loss in traction, but with the rear locked and the opposite wheel on the ground it would still be better than the alternative (totally restrained spring or using a limiting strap) would it not?
