putting a ethernet port in there might have been pretty hard actually..given how compact they wanted it 9/19/2006 10:53:53 PM |
Josh8315 Suspended 26780 Posts user info edit post |
no way. period. it would add barely any size.
and why stop at the ethernet port? lets remove the cpu becuase it will increase the size of the system. you dont toss out neccesary parts and make the consumer buy adaptors and add-ons.

has anyone seen any info on how long the wire will be on the sensor bar? And whether or not there will be extended cables available? Looking at my set up, I am guessing that I am going to need somewhere along the lines of 12-15' of cable for this thing. 9/20/2006 10:54:01 AM |

It still supports 480p. I play all my GC and Xbox games in progressive scan and the difference is pretty damn noticeable.
I use composite cables for my PS2 because most games don't support progressive scan, but even then it still makes a big difference.9/20/2006 11:16:26 AM |

I don't think anyone's ignoring the fact that the controller price stinks. Even so, you can still have four controllers and still have money for a few games with the cost of a premium PS3 (which supposedly will comprise 80% of the initial shipment).
Hell, you can buy PS3 and sell it on eBay then buy all the Wii launch games. 9/20/2006 2:17:00 PM |

well the last batch of comments is basically commenting on the comic that was put up.
While I agree fanboys are stupid, the comic is also ignoring one thing:
The cornerstone of nintendo's strategy is the mainstream appeal/cheap price. You can't really call it cheap anymore when you're rapidly approaching the price of a xbox360 to get a full working rig (extra controllers, wifi adapters, etc).
That's the reason people (including Sony or MS fanboys) are attacking the price. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CHEAP!!! So cheap, they claimed, it could be easily picked up as a second console.
speaking of which, I could've sworn the Wii had Wifi built-in, it's a real bummer if it doesn't. 9/20/2006 2:21:39 PM |
jbtilley All American 12797 Posts user info edit post |
1) It's a comic. It's not trying to cover all the bases and portray all consoles in an equal light. It's trying to exaggerate to be funny.
2) People coming down on Nintendo for marketing the price point act like people that buy the xbox and ps3 somehow aren't going to buy things like an extra controller etc. 9/20/2006 2:28:21 PM |
ShinAntonio Zinc Saucier 18948 Posts user info edit post |

I could probably guess why we arent see pre-orders. Nintendo can promise units to anyone, online sites or stores. If I was nintendo, I would ship my units to bestbuy and online stores if EB games is gonna demand trade-ins, bc that policy of hurts nintendo's profits. Anyone can sell hardware. 9/20/2006 5:17:07 PM |

What bothers me about the controller pricing is that for people to get a true party/multiplayer feel you are going to need 4 controllers... $180 on extra controllers is fucking insane. The fact that a Wii is within a Platinum Hits title of a 360 is a sick joke. Nintendo should be eating cost on this if they gave 2 shits. 9/20/2006 5:33:27 PM |
