2 islands... yes, but the "Others" and the survivors are definately on the same island because remember the first episode..

plane crashed and ben said that the dude could make it to the crash quickly if he ran... the "others" city is def on the same island as the survivors, but they(sawyer, kate, jack) MIGHT not be on it right now

good point, but they also said that they didnt have a boat, which makes me think that they have some other type of transportation to the other island.

far fetched, but becasue of the proximity (and the nature of this show) could some type of underwater tunnel be likely?

right, but as far as we know, Michael is long gone (which in reality, he wont be back on the show, as far as I know).

I'm sure they have something to get them to the other islands (and it very well could be a boat), but knowing this show, the easy path is never taken, and what is normally seem as ridiculous is commonplace on LOST.

it's getting harder and harder for them to suprise me, despite the fact that they always seem to.

Did you read my post on the last page? I think there are two other islands that are just research facilities. Nothing in the show, to my knowledge says that the Others' village is on the same island where Kate, Jack, and Sawyer are being held.

Anyone with theories as to why these islands are so isolated, or why there is only one bearing to escape?

V Also, Ben referred to the returning group as the "sub" group I think.

They have an underwater passage from one island to the other. Remember the underwater hatch that Jack tried to open? They are keeping Jack underwater.

Looking at that list, I realized we have not heard anything about the black smoke monster in a long time. Next to zero explination in over 2 seasons. Don't expect many answers about things from this season within the next year.

also... before they gave sawyer the shot, one of them said "Through the sternum, just like they did in the mov....." and he got interrupted...i think he was about to say movie, or movies...
that's a key part, in my opinion...

also, they seemed genuinely upset when they found out one of their members (the girl) had been shot... it also pairs up with sawyer's comment 2 episodes ago that the "others" did not seem too comfortable with a gun..

I think the "others" do not intend any harm on the survivors of the crash, but are just experimenting/mind-gaming them into becoming "others" of their own.

Yes they did. Ethan was going to kill one person a day until he got the baby back. And actully kills one person before Charlie shoots Ethan in the chest. Goodwin snaps that dudes neck to prevent his true identity from leaking.

Another island seems very far fetched at this point. I know Sayid has walked around most of the island at least once. He also sailed around probably half the island or more. Desmond did some sailing around it as well. Rousseau has been walking around the island 16+ years. The tail section of the plane landed on the other side of the island. How did none of them ever see the other island?

The thing about the 2 islands didn't surprise me. If you remember the episode when they found The Pearl station with all the TV monitors in it...the orientation video said something about the people in that station needing to catch the ferrie over to the barracks each day. Led me to believe that there was some other island where workers lived. I figured that dock was just the place where the ferrie picked up the Dharma workers each day.

I said three islands. We were caught off guard by the existance of a second island. And just because they can see another island and Ben says it's the castaway's island does not mean that he is telling the truth. I mean everything he is saying has pretty much been lies up to this point. Plus it makes a heck of a lot more sense to me than having another large unnoticed island right next to the main island.

^ Yeah but that does not account for Sayid and Co. not being able to see the other island. It's not like they were obeying the commands of the others. Desmond in his sailboat and everyone on the raft were sailing all around there and never mentioned another island. Plus, first season they hiked to the high point of the island for signal and did not spot another island. I think Ben is still lying about where the research facility is located.

it makes plenty of sense for mike, walt, sawyer etc to not see the second island at the end of season 1. They are on the opposite side of a 4 mile island... they could have just been getting farther and farther away until the sun came down, thats when the others kidnapped them/shot at them... and then their raft floated around the islands current afterwards. I mean, it's possible.

The fact that a lot of people on here seem to be so obsessed with needing answers cracks me up. I just think the show is entertaining as hell.

i didn't get into this show until after the 2nd season started and the third had yet to begin
a friend of mine had the season 1 dvds and so me and my boyfriend watched it and we both fell in love with it. season 3 started as soon as we finished season 1 and now we are about halfway through season 2 (i'm dvring season 3)

what i'm getting at is that by the 4th or 5th episode of season 2, i was already bored
i still watch it and am somewhat entertained but not nearly as much as i originally was
mike is still infatuated with it
i find myself playing ont he computer because i can't sit there and concentrate on it

i feel like they're trying too hard


this is my $.02 though, i probably like stuff that you guys would hate
