Only way he will leave after this season is if he does a Herb, and he will not, because he has a Fat annuity that is coming to him.

and he will not get fired because we will have to pay that for sure. I think the wolfpack club raised 1.5M as a one time payment after so many years.

Has anyone heard anything else about Bill Cowhers? If he continues to have a bad season, he is on his way out. I have heard that the folks up there are not happy with him and were tired of him even when he was doing well. I don't understand why, but that's the word on the street. They should only let Chuck go if he is seriously thinking about coming here. There is no way we'll get someone better. Oh yeah, and don't forget, Chuck has only been a head coach for a short period of time. He'll probably only get better, and we know he can recruit.

yeah, good gosh he makes some bad calls, but I believe he will continue to improve. If we could get Steve Spurrier or Bill Cowers or somebody like that I'd say go for it. But he's the best we got right now and if we run him off we're going to be in the same situation with the football team that we're in with the basketball team. We have NO IDEA how that is going to turn out.

^^no basketball is turnign out better than football would. herb was a fundamental guy that could coach discipline but couldnt recruit the top athletes. if we fire chuck we will likely get a no name guy like herb that can't recruit as well but will have the team discipline but keep losing.

chuck and sid can recruit out of their mind and will have the athletes in place to do big things.

You are attempting to link this with the basketball situation. The media labeled the fan base as being delusional. Whether or not they were is up for debate, but regardless, the media backed Herb. That is absolutely NOT the case with Amato. They have labeled him as the worst coach in America, commentators laugh at him, etc. Amato being fired would look like the school was sick of losing and his games, nothing more.

you didnt get my message that chuck is not a really good coach but he makes up for his lack in coaching with his amazing recruiting and he's been a qb short of sucess and thats obvious.

Herb was a great coach and fielded a talented group of players. His style of offense just left something more to be desired. Live by the 3, Die by the 3 and we mainly did the latter.

Chuck brings in great recruits but he has proved time and time again that he can't do anything with them. Don't even mention Rivers because he carried chuckles on his back for those 4 years. We have flip flopped from run heavy to pass heavy and back with no success. We've gone through numerous OCs and that hasn't helped.


And I don't think many of us want a championship. Just being able to compete week in and week out and not always come up one step short is good enough for me.

And I am still not convinced on recruiting. He has increased our team speed...but speed doesn't increase talent. He is getting kids from Florida....but just the leftovers that UM, UF, FSU dont want. We can see by the abundance of penalties and boneheaded plays that perhaps these aren't the most savy players out there either.



If Jim Grobe can go 8-1 at Wake Forest, then the head coach at NC State should be able to AT LEAST do the same.

chuck isnt that shitty of a coach. you can't coach arm strength and accuracy. you can't coach qb. some guys are born to play d1 qb but lee weatherford stone davis and evans obviously are not

if he was such a terrible coach we wouldnt be in every game and wouldnt do so well on d and woulndt have done so well in 02. he may be bad at discipline but thats the players he brings in. he chooses to go for the best athlete even if they have no character.how do you know he isnt taking strait thugs and turning them into occasional late hitters or celebrators?

We snuck into the Gater Bowl because we could bring tons of fans (bad fans mind you who don't support the team ). We snuck in because Maryland and perhaps Clemson?? were ranked ahead of us and finished higher in conference standings but the bowl picked us. The ACC changed the rules after this to make sure it never happened again. We got to play a VERY over-rated Notre Dame team.

We had a good season. Nothing more, nothing less.

2 wins vs D1AA, 3 wins vs Duke, New Mexico, and Navy, who at the time were three of the WORST teams in football.

i really don´t understand why people use the volleyball coach thing as a slight against lee fowler. it´s volleyball. it´s not a revenue sport, so why fire a coach, have to pay out her contract, and sign another contract on top of that? can you even name a player on the volleyball team? or the new coach, or the old coach for that matter? is volleyball really the sport you want to demand excellence from? christ. it´s volleyball. i don´t think i can say it enough. volleyball.

chuck isn´t going to be fired this season whether you like it or not. there is no way fowler is going to stick his head out AGAIN looking for a new coach, after all the trouble he went through before finding sidney. you can boast about our facilities, our location, our conference all you want, but so can many of the other schools within our conference, and unlike the other schools that may be looking for head coaches, we don´t have the history they do.
