you still haven't argued why if he is such a great coach and so many writers think he is a great hire...WHY, WHY has no big time program gone after him? Answer that question. Just fucking answer it.

^ Why do people put up quotes with no link with proof....

That's like me putting up a quote on here like "The sky is falling", but then again, it's really not because I don't have a link

Nice read on LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher regarding NC State football job....

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061202/SPORTS0202/312020003/1001/SPORTS

Quote :
"Fisher also has some ties to North Carolina State and Cincinnati. Following the 2004 season when Nick Saban left the LSU head coaching job for the Miami Dolphins, Fisher interviewed at North Carolina State to be the offensive coordinator and was offered the job. He turned it down to stay at LSU.

Fisher was the offensive coordinator at Cincinnati in 1999 and his unit finished No. 16 in the nation in total offense. After LSU won the national championship in 2003, Fisher interviewed for the head coaching job at Cincinnati but turned it down. He also interviewed at this time with the Cleveland Browns.

Fisher, who was also looked at by Mississippi State in 2003 but did not show a lot of interest, has been waiting for the right job. He has just completed his seventh season at LSU, and as usual his offense is among the highest rated in the nation. Fisher, who makes in the neighborhood of $500,000 a year in his total package, has as of yet not shown a lot of interest in the Cincinnati job. He is very interested in the North Carolina State job."

I REALLY like how that sounds, keep your fingers crossed...

Also, I think somewhere on packpride, people are saying Jimbo Fisher is soon to be interviewed for the job, but this is purely speculation right now....

I hope the Fisher rumors of being interested and being interviewed is true. I think he'd be a great hire.

especially if he brings in Auburns DC.

that way the LSU 3 point day at Auburn could not be so terrible looking on his resume.

with the coaches that have shown interest in the job, if fowler still botches this he oughta be put in an asylum

since this is nc state and lee fowler, we'll probably hire the athens drive coach and have a fuckin parade

^ i think fisher could be good here, as well as johnson. but i hear we're looking at another FSU dline and linebackers coach

I dont understand why you all would rather have Jimbo as opposed to the Navy coach?

That guy from Navy (I forget his name and am too lazy to look it up) seems like he would be the perfect fit here.

Am I missing something?

from what i can tell, the only question about the navy coach (paul johnson, btw) is that he's never been a coach at this level. by this level i mean acc/upper echelon div-1 football (yea i know, as bad as the acc is its still upper echelon). his resume is georgia southern, a perennial powerhouse in div2 or div1-AA while he was there, and he basically rebuilt the navy program.

it would be interesting to see what he could do with the level of talent he could land here, though

I like Jimbo Fisher for two reasons:
1) He is an offensive minded coach
2) He has ties to a lot of good high schools for recruiting that we will need with Butch Davis down the street

I like Paul Johnson as a "good coach" but I feel like we need a name and a program to back it up with Butch Davis next door. It's easier to say to recruits, "I helped Nick Saban to a National Championship with LSU" then "I rebuilt Navy and they're ok now."

i like the idea of johnson as well, look at his recruiting class rank with record the last three years

#116 10-2
#116 8-4
#116 9-3

but jim tressel has the name ohio state to help with recruiting, we dont have a name close to ohio state, thats why i am looking a jimbo, he recruits big time players and maybe he can get us a louisiana connection

I like Jimbo Fisher....

Jimbo expresses interest in NC State job... (via News & Observer)

http://www.newsobserver.com/122/story/517752.html

Quote :
"LSU's Fisher interested in State job

By J.P. Giglio, Staff Writer
Louisiana State offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher expressed interest in the N.C. State job today. Fisher contacted by telephone said he would be "very interested" but quickly added he had received no contact from the Wolfpack.
"That's a heckuva job," Fisher said. "How could you not be interested in that situation?"

Fisher, 41, helped LSU to a 10-2 record and a spot in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. He was also the Tigers' coordinator in 2003 when they won the BCS national title.

N.C. State, 3-9 in 2006, has been without a head coach since firing Chuck Amato on Nov. 26.
"

Sounds good if you ask me, although I don't know exactly what NC State is doing by not contacting him yet...

NCSU has not contacted someone because of the consultants they are using...

So officially, we will never contact someone until they are sure to accept the contract.

Im sure he has been in contact with representatives of our coaching search.

Technically, NCSU hasn't contacted any of them. That's the purpose for this whole 3rd party thing. The firm talks to both sides but there is no leakage if you will. I personally like it that way.

I've been interested in Fisher from day one, and hearing that he's interested in us means we need to jump on that RIGHT AWAY.

Proven OC. Prove recruiter. And if he CAN bring the Auburn DC that would be HUGE.
