I've got wickman now, and I've been debating on dumping him... he just really hasn't been performing.

yeah he's not great...but he is going to be their 9th inning guy if Saves are a category in your league

I have

Joe Borowski (CL - Cle)
Todd Jones (CL - Det)
Kevin Gregg (CL - Fla)
David Weathers (CL - Cin)
Joel Zumaya (DL - Detroit)

Top 5 recent relief pitcher moves in Yahoo! leagues

C.J. Wilson (Tex - RP) 6145 Adds FA
Octavio Dotel (Atl - RP) 2555 Drops KilluminatiPanthers
Eric Gagne (Bos - RP) 2866 Drops TheMittPounders
Manny Corpas (Col - RP) 2912 Adds FA
Joakim Soria (KC - RP) 2603 Adds boogerweed braves

You can see people worried about saves were quick to drop Dotel and Gagne (except for the dumbasses in my league haha)

is CJ Wilson a decent closer to pick up? The Rangers suck but they'll also be in close games

I have both Papelbon and Gagne in one of my leagues. I'll drop Gagne and hope that I can still pick up Wilson (assuming he's taking over as the Rangers closer and that he's still available). I dropped Chris Ray from that same team last week and picked up Corpas. I also have Gregg and Capps so I'm not too concerned about saves. I've won that cat every single week this season. It is amazing how some people don't pay attention when teams change closers.

yeah i have 60 or 70 something saves on the season but 2 teams in my league have zero and three saves on the season, respectively

and i'm not sure if its gonna be Wilson or Otsuka as their closer...Wilson closed and got the save last night though...first save of the year for him!

Quote :
"With Eric Gagne traded to the Red Sox and Akinori Otsuka sidelined, C.J. Wilson picked up the save for the Rangers on Tuesday night, retiring the final five batters of the game, according to the Dallas Morning News. Manager Ron Washington said Joaquin Benoit was ready to pitch in the ninth inning had Wilson allowed any runners.

Washington has yet to designate a closer, but it still seems as though Benoit is the best bet to handle the majority of the closing opportunities until Otsuka returns."

I dont know here. I went ahead and picked up Wilson and Soria so now my closers are:

Valverde (ARI)
Weathers (CIN)
Reyes (TB)
Walker (Bal)
Wilson (Tex)
Soria (KC)

Those last 5 could be the 5 worst teams in the league, LOL.

^i dropped reyes after his 1 inning 4 hit 4 earned run performance shortly after coming off the DL

plus they've got Gary Glover listed as their closer? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/tam/depthchart;_ylt=ApBQfbucpsC_s.CkiARFoFGFCLcF

i dont know what to think about Reyes

When Otsuka returns from the DL he will almost definitely close. He started the year as the closer while Gagne was on the DL, and he finished off last year as the closer after they traded away Cordero (and did extremely well)

I think Wilson only got the chance last night due to circumstance, it looks more like they are going to go with Benoit, Wilson, and Francisco on a situational basis until Otsuka returns.

^^I wouldnt think that Gary Glover would be Tampa Bay's closer for long now that they just picked up Dan Wheeler from the Astros. If Reyes gets benched, then I bet Wheeler would get the nod.

Does anyone else stream pitchers?

I started doing it about a month or so ago and I have had at least 10 points every week since.

89 moves later, I have crept from 9th place to a sizeable lead in the 4th spot.

I havent done it, but there are some bottom-feeders in my league who have started doing it recently

I always want to sneak in and steal one of their above-average pitchers that get dropped to make room for a starter

Well, I reached a point in the season where I realized that I never, ever start my bench players over my starters...ever.

So why not drop/trade them for pitchers who I can start daily or as needed.

I now dominate Wins, K's, CG's, SHO's, but usually lose L's, ERA, and BB, but still, I'll take it.

i usually have one spot to stream

i always keep Johan, Sabathia, Kelvim Escobar, Fausto Carmona...just picked up Oliver Perez...cant stream too many pitchers though

i usually determine my strategy based on what the other person is doing...if he's not streaming i might not

but i have made some drastic saturday night moves to try and have 3 starters on sunday to go from down in wins to up in wins and i've had success

I'm starting to run away with one of my leagues now too. After completing a sweet trade where I got Hanley Ramirez, Bedard and Alan Embree and gave up Jhonny Peralta, Isringhausen, Zambrano

now here's my team, which I think is a fantasy beast covering all stat categories:

3B Miguel Cabrera (Fla - 3B)

P Alan Embree (Oak - RP)

^ I had Cano earlier in the year, but couldn't keep waiting for him to breakout so I had to drop him. Luckily I swung a trade for Chone Figgins (before he got hot) so I am not hurting at 2B. I have Figgins and Reyes on that team so I own SBs.

^yeah Figgins is solid...I dropped Cano and was playing Orlando Hudson for awhile but picked Cano back up a few weeks ago...he has been on fire lately but yeah he definitely sucked ass in April and May (and most of June)

btw I had 18 homers and 53 RBIs last week...by far my best totals in those categories on the season,/]

^yeah Borowski and Jones havent been great with ERA and WHIP but I lead the league in saves and I'm usually really strong in WHIP

also about half my league streams a starting pitcher or two so sometimes my ERA/WHIP are 2.90/1.13 and other weeks its like 7.85/1.64 lol

so if I was going to have to drop either Casey Blake or Kevin Youkilis, which would it be? Both can play 1B,3B,OF in Yahoo! leagues...I have David Wright and Lance Berkman and some good 5-tool outfielders so I'm almost wasting a spot since Blake or Youks pretty much only play during double headers or days with only a few games where I want to maximize runs, rbis, etc...I'm leaning towards Blake but I'm hesitant

also my league has had TWO TRADES all season...both happening in April so I doubt anybody would want him

also i've since added Chris B. Young of Arizona...this weekend he became the first NL rookie to get 20 steals and 20 HRs in a season so I've got some nice 5-tool players at OF

lol @ all the people who picked up Buchholz after his no-hitter

Quote :
"Sep 4 Buchholz, who threw a no-hitter in just his second major league start, will pitch out of the bullpen for the near future, manager Terry Francona said Tuesday.

Advice: Francona left open the possibility that Buchholz will get another start this season. The Red Sox are concerned that the 23-year-old right-hander threw 115 pitches in his historic outing, 21 more than in any Triple-A start this season. With a month to go in the season - plus playoffs - Buchholz is within 20 innings of his career high.
"

Wakefield is starting tomorrow instead of Buchholz

question:

since Pedro is off the disabled list, which player should I drop to add him back in my regular lineup? I'm thinking Todd Jones but what do yall think?

First round of the playoffs in a H2H league. My team got 4th seed out of a 12 team league. Anyway the guy I am playing this week has fucking A-Rod, Carlos Pena, Brandon Phillips, Troy Glaus, and two other guys I can't remember. Anyway his team had 17 homeruns through Wednesday!! My team had 2

Plus his RBIs, BA, OBP, and SLUG were basically untouchable for me the rest of the week unless my guys go nuts. Needless to say I had to scramble and make bad roster moves in hopes of win some cats like SBs and all of the pitching cats. Fucking sucks that my season will go down in flames because he had a lucky ass week.

Oh well - rant....

I got a bye in my other league.
