they should have included it with the game but look at my post a page or two back.. they are going to offer it and the other battles as DLC, hopefully for free.. yeah right.
that'll be gay if it isn't free though, we already have it just not in a song form 11/7/2007 4:32:19 PM |

FOR the first time owners
First GH game I've owned... I have it for Wii...
I played through on easy and medium... and the later songs on medium I had trouble with but was able to get through them... other than 2...
today I calibrated the delay for the first time and it made a WORLD of difference. I was able to go through the 2 songs I had trouble with (knights of cydonia and raining fire) and got through them first try... and then played a couple songs on hard and found those to be more manageable also...
There always seemed to be a bit of a difference between the notes on the screen and what I would actually strum and get right, I found myself leading it by a significant amount pre-45ms calibration 11/11/2007 4:09:29 PM |
dweedle All American 77386 Posts user info edit post |
my calibration offsets it by 81 ms 11/11/2007 6:10:16 PM |
WolfAce All American 6458 Posts user info edit post |
yeah if the notes don't line up exactly with the music you'd have to be pretty insane at sight reading to get them down, couldn't you tell that something was massively not right when your strumming was not matching up at all with the music? that would drive me mad, i guess that's one benefit to having an old crt tv 11/11/2007 6:47:57 PM |
LimpyNuts All American 16859 Posts user info edit post |
i never had to adjust the offset with my xbox on any TV i've played on, but a lot of my friends insist it's necessary. i think for most people the problem is they initiate the strum when they hear the sound, but the strum doesn't register until the strum bar deviates a bit from center (roughly 45 degrees), which takes a little bit of time. 11/11/2007 7:26:12 PM |

My Samsung has a "Game Mode" setting for certain video sources... it basically bypasses all of the processing the TV does on the color for the TV, and makes the response about 10ms. I hit the notes when I hear the sounds though, not when I see them line up with the line. 11/11/2007 10:22:37 PM |

They have downloadable content because Microsoft is full of money grubbing jew whores and they know people will pay for said content, so why wouldn't they charge people extra for it?11/12/2007 12:02:11 PM |

I've never played Guitar Hero, so I'm out of the loop. Do they make changes to the gameplay every iteration such that you have to buy a new guitar controller each time?
I.e. GH1 - guitar has 4 'frets' GH2 - guitar has 5 'frets' - better buy another one if you want to play GH2 GH3 - guitar has 6 'frets' - better buy another one if you want to play GH3 11/12/2007 12:33:08 PM |

i wish i could get better.
to all of you experts, can you pretty much pick any song ie. bonus or downloaded and 5 star it on hard ? Or is the whole secret playing every song so many times that you know the patterns and could play "acoustically" if you wanted?
I don't play that often, but not really that seldom either at least a couple songs every night and then there's always the nights where it goes for hours.

is that counting all your playtime on GH1 and 2?
I don't recall when I started playing, but it was when office depot had that slickdeal for the xbox 360 and i picked up GH2, probably at the beginning of this year.
I've played guitar for a couple years off and on, but no means am I anything above passable with that. Most all open chords, popular bar chords and a few scales, blues, A, pentatonic. I definitely can't sing while playing and still keep time so maybe that's why I get emasculated every time someone with absolutely no musical background 5 stars a song on hard when im missing notes on medium.
I could never force myself to sit down for those 3-5 necessary hours every night for teh real guitar, so i doubt im ever gonna do that shit with a video game. I just wanna be able to actually contend with my roommates on hard, rather than always know they're gonna hit more notes than i am.
