Suns just looked horrible in every aspect of the game today (excluding Amare).

Nobody could hit an open shot, stupid turnovers, bad defense...and then the Pistons couldn't miss a shot. I've never seen Phoenix play this bad.

And whatever happened to Diaw? Ever since he played amazing two years ago in the playoffs, he has been on a steady decline. He played alright in Shaq's first two games back, but was back to his old form tonight. I think Phoenix has been counting on him to improve over the past few years...but he definitely hasn't. Would be nice to see him step up in Marion's absence.

Bell needs to pick it up too. He hasn't exactly played well this year either. Here's to hoping the whole team can step it up come playoff time.

I will say that Amare has looked absolutely ridiculous since Shaq arrived. That medium range jump shot he has improves his game ten-fold. He's one of the more dominant players in the league right now.

yeah. I am surprised at how well amare looks next to shaq. Shaq just looks lost on offense.

Diaw had that great year the same time Nash had his best season. He got fat that next year. I always thought he was a product of the system. he's a great passer but he does nothing else really well. he's not a good shooter or ball handler. he's not very athletic. He just seems to do everything decent

I can't believe the nuggets wouldnt make the playoffs if things ended today. I know they can't stop anybody on defense but damn they would be the 4th best team in the east for sure.

I actually think the Warriors will be the team left out at the end

They should take two spots away from the East and give them to the West. The East doesn't deserve 8 playoff spots this year.

I don't how exactly they would reconfigure they playoffs this way...but they should still do it.

I also have a feeling the Hornets could possibly drop out of the playoffs. They have a tough tough remaining schedule...and I think they're just too young to keep this good play up (which is already kind of showing).

when you talk about letting the best 16 teams make the playoffs, or some type of realignment its pretty simple...in your scenario when the west should get 10 spots this year and the east should get 6, obviously teams like new jersey and philly and atlanta are opposed...and obviously teams like houston and denver and golden state are in favor of...wont ever happen though imo...the NFL is discussing something similar where the top 12 teams would go instead of the current system...i dont see that ever happening either

it would make conferences, divisions, etc.... meaningless. It will never happen

I don't think anyone is seriously saying it will ever happen...but it sure would be nice this year to see 10 teams from the West in the playoffs. And I could really care less about anybody out of the top 4 in the East.

BTW...Hornets took a tough L tonight. They better watch out this half of the season...they could slip out of the playoff picture.

I really think that is a possibility. ^ As good as they've looked, they are only around 5 or six games away from that 9 spot.

The Nuggets are an awesome video game team but an average real life team

Like how the Vikings were when they had Culpepper, Moss and Michael Bennett (98 speed ftw)

Rockets looking for their 13TH STRAIGHT WIN tonight as they host Antawn Jamison and the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have been struggling lately, winning just 3 of their last 10 games as Caron Butler's injury piles up the woes already started by Gilbert Arenas' early season knee surgery. Also despite Arenas' claim to return to action by this Sunday, March the 2nd, Arenas is now not so sure. Also Sacramento travels into Miami to beat Dwayne Wade, Shawn Marion, and the rest of the scrubs in a surprisingly close game. One of the more interesting games tonight might be the Phoenix @ Memphis game. Memphis moved Gasol because he didn't fit in there and they wanted to run more. Phoenix required Shaq because they were weak on interior defense, but Shaq has limited Phoenix's ability to run and score points lately. Conley Jr. continues to improve. If they can somehow limit Amare, don't be surprised to see an upset tonight.

Wizards looked good last night in beating the Hornets.

Deshawn Stevenson is an explosive guard who can go off on certain nights (like he did last night). That being said...the Rockets are playing extremely well and I don't expect their winning streak to go down tonight

And Phoenix needs to right the ship tonight. A loss to Memphis could really hurt team morale after that spanking by Detroit.

Quote :
"Yao Ming's season reportedly is over.

Yao

KRIV-TV in Houston and The Houston Chronicle are reporting that Yao has a stress fracture in his left foot and the Rockets are expected to announce he will have season-ending surgery later Tuesday.

Houston, currently on a 12-game winning streak, is in fourth place in the Southwest Division. The streak followed a loss in the one game that Yao has missed all season.

The 7-foot-6 Yao is averaging 22.0 points and 10.8 rebounds in 55 games this season.

I don't think that really makes a difference, its not like they play the same position

I think they should try to intercept the Mavs signing Magloire and offer him more money

So unless T Mac carries the team on his back...the 8 playoff teams in the West are all but decided

Oh shit I just realized

While this sucks for the Rockets, the Chinese Government is probably more pissed

Since he was suppose to be the crown jewel of their Olympic basketball team in his home country this summer

Now all they got is Wang Zizi

kind of avoiding the question by changing the criteria but i'd say the best teamS right now are:

EAST:

Boston/Detroit

WEST: LA Lakers / Spurs

Yeah if I had to pick the two conference finals right now thats who I'd pick

Though I've softened on my stance that Cleveland or Orlando couldn't beat either of the two East heavyweights (though I still don't give Toronto a chance)

and Utah and Phoenix I think have the best chance of crashing the party from the West

but its still February...a lot can and will change in the next month and a half

Look at last season's NBA thread...like 6 pages total

Just shows how much more exciting this season is
