I got on my HOA board because they were insano, and I like to think that I've de-Nazified it to some degree.

HOA are good to a certain extent, but how far should they go in telling people what they can and can't do on their own property?

While the lakes are now full, I think the groundwater takes a lot longer to get back to normal levels, doesn't it? I really think we need to keep Stage 1 restrictions through the summer, and consider making them permanent (seeing as how we keep adding customers to the system and can't exactly build another reservoir....)

Actually there is talk of another reservoir in eastern wake county (off the Little River). They've also broke ground on a water treatment plant on Lake Benson.

Those will help, but I doubt either of those will give us a surplus of water. Some form of water conservation being mandatory and year round is the best bet for the long term.

i remember many years ago when G105 was still bob and madison. they did an april fool's joke where they did a "public service announcement" that there was too much water and the reservoirs were overflowing, so the state wanted everyone to leave their faucets running for one day only while they were at work. apparently a lot of people are stupid and did it, and then of course the radio station got into trouble.

because grease is only liquid when it's hot, like after you finish grilling bacon or a steak. If you dump it down your drain then, it will sit in your p-trap, then when it cools it will turn solid. Do that enough and your drains will be completely clogged. Alternatively, if you pour burning-hot grease directly from your stove, you can melt your pipes.
Grease should be poured in an aluminum can until it cools and solidifies, then it can be thrown in the trash. Or wait till it cools in the pan and clean it out with paper towels

Raleigh, N.C. — A City Council committee voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend Raleigh scrap its 3-week-old ban on garbage disposals.

The Budget and Economic Development Committee agreed to review the ordinance, which has drawn fire from residents, builders and disposal manufacturers since the council passed the measure a month ago.

The full council would have to vote to rescind the ban at its meeting next week.

City officials backed the disposal ban – it's among the first nationwide – because they said food scraps and other debris clog municipal sewer lines, causing overflows that are costly to repair and that could potentially harm the environment
