I had to drop out. I was working 50 hours a week to pay for bills, food, etc. I'm not the type of person who can work 50 hours then go home and do engineering homework. That's one of the reasons I decided to go military - intoduce a little discipline into my life. I wish I could have finished school - I should be a senior this year, but I made too many mistakes along the way.

In a way i'm glad I did what I did though. Learned a lot about life and the real world. Met a lot of great friends and had some experiences I couldn't have had any other way. I've somewhat known I was going to go into the military since I was about 15 - I just didn't know when or what the circumstances would be. I should be able to get into the naval academy pretty easily with my test scores and high school performance so i'll end up an officer i'm sure. I'm also going to try to play some football while i'm there

First off I'm not trying to sound like an ass, and am genuinely curious. A friend of mine told me that drug testing in the military is similar to how it is done with professional sports in that someone's job is to literally watch you pee to ensure that the sample came directly from your penis. Is this true? If it is, does anyone have a problem with this?

They are pretty strict about the process though. You have to initial the seal that goes across the pee cup. My 'J' looked too much like a T so they made me rip it off and make a new label instead of just adding a little squiggle at the bottom.

Took me all of 2 days to make it through MEPS.

First day in medical they decide my ears needed to be cleaned (earwax buildup). They send me to the urgent care down the road. After about 6 hours and several attempts, the inept nurses can't get my ears cleaned enough. There is more to that story but it's probably boring

I go home, buy a 5 dollar ear cleaning kit from harris teeter, and clean my ears while watching TV. Takes about 15 minutes.

The next week I am finally able to go back (long weekend due to the 4th of July). All I have to do is have a doctor check my ears, get my job assignment from the Navy, then swear in. This process takes from 0700 until 1700.

The people at MEPS are retarted.
