i took my dog out the other day and there was a torn piece of newsprint on the ground

it said the name of the girl i like i huge blue letters

and nothing else

WTF

also, the zooey shit is kind of growing on me

the problem is, 10% of every song is wrong

"this is not a test" is fucking perfect

until the half-assed mouth trumpet that ruins it

every song on the goddamn record is like that other than "you really got a hold on me"

be it zooey affecting a voice or the unnatural honk on the production making her sound like shit or whatever

after saying all that

i can't stop listening to it

LOL

this is really going off the beaten path, but i want her to sing with the vunerability that she had when she sang in elf on every song...and i'm not quite sure why she doesn't on most of them, because they're 100% vunerable songs

Holy shit the new Supergrass record is amazing. But then again, I think everything they do, all farts included, turn to gold.

Anyone heard it yet? Diamond Hoo Ha Man?

I can't stop listening to the She & Him record, either. The first few weeks I had listened to it a lot, and even though it's not a daily listen for me like it once was, I still find myself playing it every Saturday or Sunday morning. It's playing right now, in fact.

I like it just fine, but my girlfriend was really looking forward to it and she was a bit disappointed at first. I think it's growing on her now, but her initial reaction was how Zooey tries too hard to emulate other artists on some songs and it irritated her (eg. the Loretta Lynn schtick on a couple tracks).

I didn't really have any expectations about this record, and I've really enjoyed it.

Also, I just noticed today how much I've been going back and listening to The National's Boxer. I think that's probably the album from last year that I re-visit most, other than In Rainbows.

Probably little interest in this here, but what the hell:

Also, did y'all see that Jack White and the Raconteurs have a new album out next week? They finished recording it, didn't tell his label or anything and just went in and dropped it on them last week. Pretty cool story, if true.

Coldplay reveals the name of the title for their new record and it's going to be called Viva la Vida.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/03/18/rolling-stone-exclusive-coldplays-new-album-title-revealed/

Quote :
"Of course, Frida Kahlo will not be the first name that jumps to most peoples’ minds when they hear the phrase. “Everyone thinks it comes from Ricky Martin, which is fine. I have absolute respect,” says the singer, who gave Coldplay its original name, Pectoralz, and named his children Apple and Moses. “I’ve been through this before, naming something or someone and everyone saying that ‘That’s a terrible name’. But then saying, ‘Well, fuck you, that’s what it’s called, and I’ll be proved to be right eventually’. So when Viva la Vida came along, I was kind of annoyed because I’m going to have to try and convince everybody of this, but it just felt right.”"

God, I wish they would just end their careers now before they embarrass themselves further.

no offense, but i think Alternative Press has less credibility than pretty much every other magazine out there.

you can't have dudes that look like this on your cover and maintain credibility

i'm not going to refute their credibility, but i like the hottness and they are in there... that's a fact. not saying they are the best band EVAR, but i like 'em.
