Well I guess receiving a blow job but instead getting a lot of teeth is the issue here. I'm afraid comic fans want a more stimulating experience. Something that will do the comic justice, which apparently is impossible as spoken by the original author.

I enjoy cinema too, but some things are just 'nerd' sacred. I'm still gonna watch it though, but i'm not paying no damn 7 dollars. That's for sure.

^ it's distracting. if i wanted to see dicks then i would just hang out in carmicheal gym in the morning when all the old people wander around butt naked for no apparent reason, i wouldn't go to the movie theater to do it.

the human form is a "distraction"

AND I'M PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

WHERE AT LEAST I KNOW I'M FREE

AND I WON'T FORGET THAT DICKS WERE HID

TO GIVE THAT RIGHT TO ME

seriously, i know the movie had its shortcomings, but blue dick was not the least of my concerns/issues with the flick

and it goes again in the whole "poor schmucks who didn't know what they were getting into..."

not knowing about the blue dick in Watchmen would be like asking "whats with all the dead jews" while watching Schindler's List

it's not distracting because OH NOES I'M A CLOSET FAG LOL, it's distracting because it's something that you don't see very often in movies, so when you do see it it sticks out in your mind more. especially since in this case they wait until you've forgotten about the last time you saw it and then they show you dr. manhattan's dong again just to remind your that it's still there and it's still blue. they should have either had him naked the entire movie, in which case people would get used to it and then not care about it anymore, or they should have just made him wear his awesome diaper outfit.

it wasnt distracting to me AT ALL, in fact I honestly barely noticed it throughout the entire movie and thought it was pretty lulz that people were making such a big deal about it. You know its coming, and sure the first time you see it in the movie, youre like "there it is", but after that I never even saw it. Its like subtitles or something. Any movie with subtitles, it takes me a scene or two for my brain to adjust and then the rest of the movie you dont even realize it is in another language.

"Watchmen’ supports rape

I recently saw the movie Watchmen, and I was very upset with the way things were allowed to be portrayed in the movie. The scene that I am specifically referring to is the raping of Sally Jupiter by The Comedian. The fact that he used brute strength to force her to have sex and his name means more to me than just a rape scene. His name implies that the things he does are meant to be funny or evoke laughter. I personally do not find rape, in any way, as something to laugh at. In our society, children tend to look up to super heroes and try to act like them.

The fact that The Comedian is supposed to be a superhero sends a very bad message to today’s youth. Though he is not as big as batman or superman, he is still a super hero, and there will be kids who will see this movie and want to act like him.

Some of the people who have seen this movie have themselves been raped, and this makes it seem like it’s OK or that it is normal. I personally have stopped more than 100 people from seeing this movie and will continue to discourage people from going to see it. Supporting rape is never a good thing, especially in a movie where the superheroes do the raping.

I would like to see something written about this in the Technician.

I was distracted by it at first because of the surprise, but after like 2 seconds I didn't think about it and just watched the movie. How ridiculous are you that something like that distracts you throughout the entire movie?

Edit: Oh shit I was talking about the blue penis, not the rape scene.

It's rated fucking R, if a parent is dumb enough to let their kid watch this thinking its a super hero movie, the kid is going to have bigger problems.

After seeing the movie, I flipped through the comic of The Watchmen that my friend had, and I was surprised at how the movie seemed to exactly mirror the frames in the comic.

What exactly is his problem with the movie?

^^apparently he hasn't even seen the movie. His problem is that he feels that the medium in which he presented the story was the only medium in which it belonged. He's said that with Watchmen he was able to show what could be done with the comic medium and that the story doesn't belong anywhere else. Also, the other movies that have been based on his work have been pretty terrible.

"Watchmen does NOT support rape

Joshua Hamilton's comments on the Watchmen movie are so far off base that it is obvious he did not understand the purpose of the Comedian's character. He is not called "Comedian" because he is supposed to be funny or evoke laughter. He is Comedian because he has taken the world and human nature at face value and made his persona into a satire of what he sees around him. He was not meant to be viewed as a valiant and chivalrous hero the way Superman and Batman are, and Josh's comment "the Comedian is supposed to be a superhero sends a very bad message to today’s youth..." is funny to me considering this is a rated "R" movie. If kids end up seeing it anyway then its up to their parents to discuss the severity of rape and encourage their children not to act like Comedian, or to just keep their kids from seeing "R" rated movies in the first place. Watchmen is not a superhero story, but an intricate look into the nature of humanity that just happens to have a few people running around in masks and capes."

"Hamilton takes wrong message from Watchmen

Joshua Hamilton's letter on March 19 showed a remarkable lack of understanding of the film Watchmen. He claims that the film supported rape because one of the protagonists raped another superhero. Mr. Hamilton shows no comprehension of the context in which the act was committed and then proceeds to get up on a soapbox and talk about boycotting the film.

The character of The Comedian was meant to be a criticism of the traditional hero mold- namely that those attracted to such positions would have a tendency to become like The Comedian. After experiencing the tragic events he does, he becomes a stark contrast of what a hero should be. He becomes dangerously amoral, nihilistic, cynical, and jingoistic; a parody of the ideal- hence the name Comedian. The rape scene was intended to be the most notable indicator of his corruption, a sense of undue entitlement for his protective services.

Yes, the movie is much darker and more serious than the standard fare of a comic to movie adaptation. It is deep and complex, and raises many moral questions. However, the film never advocated rape, and the suggestion that it did indicates a failure to grasp the meaning of the movie.

have you read the book?

you know how they made a 2+ hour movie out of like 5 chapters of one book of the Bible (Passion of the Christ)

Watchmen deserved that kind of thoroughness as well

each issue of the series could have EASILY been an hour long episode for a mini series, and each probably could have supported 90-120 minutes each

but instead, we got 3 hours of convoluted and confusing (to the uninitiated) schlock whose highest praise is OH WOW IT LOOKS LIKE THE STATIC IMAGES IT WAS DERIVED FROM

honestly, dinner afterwards was hilarious; i felt like the BIGGEST NERD IN NERDTOWN trying to explain things
i basically stopped when i realized one of the girls thought they were all super powered

after i explained they're all (save for Jon) normal people, her first question was "how'd that guy's face keep changing patterns?"

GOOD JOB, MOVIE

The rape didn't actually happen; it was only attempted rape. Hooded Justice walked in on them just as Comedian was about to get down to business, and proceeded to pound the ever living shit out of him. Comedian slapped Silk Spectre I around a bit, but he never got his dick wet.

^^You can't be faulted for failing to explain the series to people. Had I not read the book, I probably would have had trouble following along.

If anyone knows more about the Watchmen story, can you explain to me why the other Watchmen looked up to/respected the Comedian, despite the fact that he was an overall douchebag. I mean yeah, he may have stopped a few criminals in his time, but in my opinion, his heroics are far overshadowed by the incredibly messed up stuff that he did, including but not limited to attempted rape, the murder of a pregnant woman, and firing on unarmed protesters.

I'm pretty sure they don't:

nite owl I exposes the whole attempted rape thing in his book.
hooded justice beat his face in.
silk spectre II hates the comedian obviously.
manhattan couldn't give a fuck.
rorschach does respect the comedian, but then again, he has a pretty twisted view of morality.

oh, and what the fuck is it with these fucking mouthbreathers that they think a film condones every event that takes place in it. YES, Schindler's List is condoning the holocaust AND trying to make it look cool for kids.

WTF PEOPLE

this reminds me of a friend starting a facebook group called "Students Against Child-Rape Scenes in Movies"

so I made a group "Students Against Murder Scenes in Movies" with this picture:

oh so clever, but you get the point.

I cant remember who was where in the last supper but I wonder there's a significance to the story... there has to be right? he wouldnt have put that in there and then just randomly have the people in certain places.
