I remember going to lunch with a co-worker and he was talking about how Sean Avery was a defenseman who constantly got in fights.

So far today has been bizzaro world in the NHL. The Devils beat the Canes, the Blackhawks beat the Dead Wings (both for the first time) and both the #1 teams from the East and West lost to teams that aren't in playoffs. And yes, the starting goalies were in both games.

As for the Battle of Alberta, the Flames need to get shit together quickly or it's gonna be another early round playoff departure vs the Hawks. Someone needs to spend the entire summer in a film room with Phaneuf and show him that the fundamentals of solid D do not include massive sweeping swings through the neutral zone looking to drop the bomb.

I am banking on the Hawks beating the Flames. I wanted the Flames to do well but they just fizzled here at the end. I think it was Grapes who said earlier that the problem was that they played Kiprusoff too much when he isn't a Roy or Marty stamina goalie. They said last night during the first Flames/Oilers game that the last time a team won with 15 skaters was like 1986 (maybe 4).
