Hurricanes will be televised a grand total of

ZERO

times on Versus this year. Awesome!

Part of me is upset cause I'd like the Canes to have more national exposure. On the other hand, Versus does pretty much suck.

We can bank on NBC not showing anything that doesn't involve Pittsburgh, Washington, or the Rangers so i'm guessing that's probably out as well.

This isn't a hockey market, and people in hockey markets don't give a shit about us, regardless of whether or not we made a deep playoff run and won the cup a few years ago.

Personally, I don't give a shit. As long as I can see the games, I don't give a damn if Jimmy Nutsack in Schenectady can see us play a couple of times a year on Vs.

Love the signing.

As for the Jokinen authentic, I got it new with tags from ebay for 100 and sent it off for lettering. I think I have about 150 tied up in the jersey.

I'm quite happy about the Yelle signing.

Also, what was the turnaround time on the jersey lettering?

I just thought about this:

We beat the Bruins in the playoffs.

Our solution for improving the team in the offseason? Acquire three Bruins.

^^^Through the eye, they said 3 weeks but it took exactly 6 as I had it sent off and stitched. I would just send it to IceJerseys as it is probably a little cheaper and faster. I have no complaints with the work though.

Actually, I kind of think they all get sent to the same place. dunno

^ to piggyback off that, if you send off a jersey, check where it's coming from if you have that ability. i'm willing to bet it's Rockford, IL.

CRAZY CANIAC CHALLENGE

Quote :
"To help celebrate the 10th Caniac Carnival, we are adding the Crazy Caniac Challenge to kick off the festivities. The race is two laps around the RBC Center, which is approximately two miles.

This may sound easy for some, but there is a twist. After completing one lap, participants must eat two hot dogs and drink one 12-ounce soda. And then run the final lap. Hence, the Crazy Caniac Challenge!

Grand Prize: Two 12-game plans for the 2009-10 season.
Runner-Up: Team-signed Carolina Hurricanes Jersey
Third Place: Autographed Item

All participants will receive a Crazy Caniac t-shirt
All partipants that finish will be eligible to win two 12-game plans for the 09-10 season, which will be raffled off to one lucky winner "

Seamless glass doesn't give, so it's much rougher on the body and particularly the head than standard glass with stanchions.

I hear Mike Goodson is great in front of the net on powerplays, and DeAngelo Williams can run the point quite well.

^^I bet DeAngelo Williams has a wicked slapshot.

As for the Crazy Carolina Challenge...I think I'd rather have the runner up prize as opposed to the grand prize.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/allan_muir/08/28/hudler.kane.notes/index.html?eref=sihp

Here's the interesting note in that article:

Quote :
"Holland's only real option here is to dump Tomas Holmstrom. His $2.25 million hit won't cover Hudler's, but it's close. His contract expires after this season (good for the acquiring side) and he still has a rep as a big-game player, though he's not always as visible from October through April.

You'd expect Holland to try first to move him to the East, where the Hurricanes and Rangers might be interested. Both sides, however, would need to do some wiggling of their own to fit him in. It's more likely that Holland's limited options will force him to move Holmstrom within the conference. Would the Blues or Kings be willing to take him on? Possible, but far from certain.

"

I like Holmstrom, not afraid to do the dirty little things needed on the ice. I doubt JR tinkers with his team now but that would be a great acquisition.

I would absolutely love Holmstrom, but there is no way we are involved. We can't take anyone on without sending salary back the other way, and that would defeat the entire purpose from the Wings' perspective.

saw new hurricanes commercial at the football game tonight, it was pretty slick looking. i think they need to keep that direction in the commercials, with the crowd hyping things and the intense play, etc.

and apparently one of the new catchphrases will be "ITS A CANIAC THING"

not sure how big a fan of that i am
