I'll say this -- Russell is playing well, but he has GOT to pull the ball every now and then on the option play. Pitt isn't honoring him as a runner and are swarming to the RB. Why he refuses to pull the ball baffles me.

That's incorrect. If the clock is running and there is an offensive penalty it will continue to run. Think about it. If penalties stopped the clock it would effectively be an extra timeout or two.

Game clock was on the left on the replay. Should have been :07 left.

Not really. He probably assumed that the clock was stopped and called the to only when he saw the officials had fed up. Then further got screwed when he called it at 9 and they let it run to 5
