I know. I am just being all sad and dramatic. I mean, like he said, he's 65. The full Devils season, the travel, the special games and then the post season can take its toll. Steve Cangialosi has filled in for him plenty in the past and would be the logical choice to fill his roll. I will miss the Doc/Chico banter though.

Help me understand this. The Devils dump some salary buy trading Rolston for Trent Hunter and then turn around and buy out both his and Colin White's contract thus making the two of them UFAs. This boggles the mind. Colin White has been the Devils best defenseman since Scotty Neidermeyer (sp?) and Trent Hunter has a lot of potential with this team. I wish this made a lick of sense.

I was surprised to see them ditch hunter. But the swap was probably because the buyout for hunter was cheaper than a buyout for rolston., and never had any interest in hunter. Its a Pareto optimal agreement for the islanders and devils, I guess.
