^it was funny, cuz you could see someone throw water on him as hes coming in, and then you see 2 or 3 guys put handfulls of dirt on his head in the pile. And then when hes walking off, you can just see it caked on his head.

my parents used to always wait outside the stadium with me to get autographs from players, got a ton that way, but Dale would never sign because he was worried about people selling them for money, but when I was about 10 he actually stopped and signed a card and glove for me. The parking attendant guy said he had never seen him stop before. One of my best childhood memories. Then I traded them for a hamburger a few years later.

teheran just found out that even on 3-2 counts, balls down the middle will end up 400 feet away in the bigs

Even on a 3-2 count?

There are MUCH worse hitter counts...

god dammit.

Kembrel can NEVER have a clean save... usually he still ends up striking out the side, but then you get nights like this...

Tough game to win for the Braves last night. Cross country trip with no day off throwing a rookie in his 2nd career start in a hitters park. Kimbrel has got to get his control issues worked out if he'd going to become an elite closer. Glad to see the Braves fight back to take the lead last night, but I question a couple of Fredi's moves.

Like in the top of the 5th, Braves got runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs and Teheran up to bunt. He bunts it too hard, runner out at 3rd. Prado then hits into his 4th double play in 3 games. Then what happens in the bottom of the 5th? George Sherrill starts the inning. If Fredi already knew he was going to take out Teheran, then why the hell did he let him try to bunt? Send a good bunter up there like Hudson or Hanson to get the job done or let Hinske hit and go for the big inning.

Teheran's location was a little off last night and he made a couple mistakes like giving up a two out hit to the pitcher that led to the 2nd D-back run, but overall he made progress and I'm looking forward to watching this guy in the future.

WTF is up with the Braves offense the past three games? Embarassing. I hope they win at least one game on this West Coast swing

yeah it's been pretty anemic for about two weeks now. Couple that with hudson's terrible start last night, a pretty awful road trip so far. we'll pick it up, but we had some prime opportunities recently to go up on the phillies and marlins. good thing we still have 70% of the season left to play. I'm positive we'll be right there in the end

Great win last night. Another bench player (Mather) wins another game for the Braves. Heyward looks like he'll be a lost cause this season due to his shoulder. Dude should just go ahead and have surgery instead of trying to play through pain and putting up 0-4s.

12 innings last night and the Braves only gave up 5 hits. Pretty remarkable. Hopefully they'll win the series today. Also the AP write-up on the game last night has more errors than David Ortiz trying to play first.

Double post.

I looked at Heywards stats so far in May and he is hitting .098 with a .350 OPS, not OBP, but OPS. One double, 3 singles, 2 SBs. He has more SBs than extra base hits. 15 strikeouts too. Obviously he is in pain and needs to go on the DL because he sure as hell is not helping the team.

When I caught BP last week Mather was freaking raking it to all fields. By far the most impressive... in BP.

Never like to see the Angels lose, but it's hard to complain much when the opponent has 18 hits. I am a bit uneasy about Chatwood, dude was rocky as fuck last week. Good luck.

Team is slowly being wrecked by injuries. McLouth is likely going to the DL now. Heyward was finally placed on the DL. Moylan out forever. Chipper is probably 80% now. Beachy still on DL.

Need McCann or Uggla to start carrying the offense otherwise it'll be dog fight all year hanging around .500. This team is super boring to watch too. Never any hit and runs, SBs, nothing aggressive. Sucks dick. Most exciting thing is watching Venters make hitters look retarded.

Mather, Prado, and Hinske to form deadly OF. Pitchers request trades to AL teams.

Also Hudson is apparently hurt too and Minor will start in his place for at least one start. WTF? Atlanta Braves shit.

I think they also called up Wilton Ramirez (I think that is his name) to take Heyward's spot. What a fucking depleted bench we have now. Outside of Ross and Conrad, you've got Diory, Schafer, Ramirez, and Brandon Hicks. Wow. Between those last four, you'd be lucky to get a combined .650 OPS.

They have got to be working on a trade to fill Heyward's spot. Dude is done this year IMO. Maybe they'll get Ankiel again

^ Giving Uggla two days off in a row (off day on Monday)? Seriously? Yeah he is hitting .200, but fuck we need our best players out there considering that we're missing two regulars. Fredi credibility watch?

Yeah, I'm wondering if Uggla is nursing an injury. It might explain his numbers dropping off so badly.

Lots of weird stuff in that lineup, though. Why is Schafer batting lead-off? Put Prado there at let Schafer bunt him over, just like McLouth has been doing for weeks. And why bat Gonzalez ahead of Freeman?

[Edited on May 24, 2011 at 5:58 PM. Reason : I guess it's a carry over from McLouth #1, Prado #2 like in LA, which didn't make sense either]

Morton is kicking ass this year. Leading the majors in grounders. Apparently he adopted Halladay's delivery this past off season and added a two seamer.

Nice game for JJ last night. Braves needed a night where the bullpen could take it easy and still get a win. I'm glad we're playing the Pirates right now and not the Phillies. Braves have a relatively easier stretch of games coming up with Pitt, Reds, SD, and Mets so hopefully they can make it through this next couple of weeks and get back McLouth and Beachy and Hudson back to 100%.

I guess Uggla sitting was simply to give him more rest. The Braves are off on Thursday too so he'll get three days off this week. Braves need his power in the lineup badly.

Here is the sequence to almost any dan uggla at-bat:

1st pitch - called strike, swinging strike, or foul
2nd pitch - called strike, swinging strike, or foul
3rd pitch - maybe a ball or two
4th/5th pitch - strike out or ground ball hit right at someone

I loved our acquisition of him, but this is god damn frustrating. He needs to just chill the fuck out
