so my friends band has an album thats on itunes now. Should definitely at least check out the music on their myspace. Its folk/grassroots type music kind of like avett brothers. Wanted Man & Sugar bowl are my personal favs. I think i've posted them before in one of these music of 20xx threads, but their new recordings are a lot more clear and well done.

I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

very, very pleasantly surprised by the new rosebuds album...best album they've done in years imo, probably ever

a textbook example of how great production can make your band's sound infinitely more interesting...to me, their last few releases (possibly in large part because of the lackluster production) just sounded uninspired. the new one definitely does not.

I think I'm good on the Rosebuds.

I have been listening to the new Panda Bear for like a week now. It's pretty radical.

found out one of the record stores in DC will be getting 3 copies of the flaming lips/neon indian EP for record store day. apparently they're the first store on the east coast to get it and only the 7th store nationwide. might try and grab one.

my morning jacket put the title track from their new album circuital on their website today. it's not bad.

...and another one.

The sheer amount of R&B that I'm liking so far this year has me wondering how much I've missed in the last few years just because I haven't seen it reviewed as much. Some of it's miss...but much of it's hit.

anyone heard anymore by Hooray For Earth? Their song True Love(r)s has a Yeasayer vibe and if that's how the rest of their stuff is I could definitely dig them.

Speaking of hip-hop, the new Atmosphere - Family Sign was released on Tuesday. And I like it.

Awesome video:

I downloaded the Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) EP 2 nights ago. It's only 5 songs, but it's pretty solid IMO.

There's a link on this page to download the EP:

Crazy...I downloaded it just 2 or 3 days ago. I don't know anything about the violations or whatever, but he posted that link on his own site...weird that it would now be taken down. I'm sure it can be found other places, I don't know.

FINALLY gave the new Go! Team a couple of listens earlier since it's been sitting stagnant on my computer for the last month...and it's AWESOME.

Digging Fleet Foxes as well...I like it better than their first one (which I marginally enjoyed). It's got a more "open" feel to it...same kinda production that MMJ's At Dawn had back in the day (one of my all time favorites). I think that's what I'm digging so much about it.

And I've sadly concluded that I do not enjoy the new TVOTR *or* EITS at all..despite them being two of my favorite bands.

Top 3 for the year are still Tim Hecker, Destroyer, and Weeknd though...by a longshot.

Hugo's album Old Tyme Religion has leaked. Not sure if many people know about this guy, he's a new artist on Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. Most known for his re-make of 99 Problems. Album is catchy and has a unique style with a blend pop, rock, hip-hop, soul influences. The latter half of the album gets a little too poppy for me, but still a good listen overall IMO.

Cave In's "White Silence" available for preorder. Stream of a one of the songs available. I'm looking forward to it. Perfect Pitch Black grew on me, and nothing will ever top Jupiter, but I have high hopes for this.

Cults just might be the catchiest band ever. New song "Abducted" is just about as great as "Go Outside." Sky's the limit for them, especially since they already have a major label deal and will get a lot of advertising and such as a result.

Also, I think it's a rule that you have to have long, straight, jet-black hair that goes past your shoulders to be in that band. All five of them.
