Sorry for my incompetence.
When you are drafted, does that mean you at least get some kind of contract with the team before you play regardless of which round you were drafted? Is there a clause in all contracts that allows a team to cut a player with/out a termination fee? 5/1/2011 3:17:38 PM |

if in some crazy world the panthers had the #1 pick again, and they were offered two first rounders, two 2nd rounders, and a 2013 first rounder, i would be extremely pissed off if they turned it down. i'm a big luck guy, but you could turn a team around with the quickness with that many premium picks 5/2/2011 6:31:30 PM |

3 1st round picks and 2 second round picks for one 1st round pick?
Does this seem plausible to you? 5/2/2011 7:10:29 PM |

^^ uh, no, which is why i said "if in some crazy world."
it was based on:
Quote : | "But for the sake of argument, let's play out this hypothetical. New England can go to the team with the No. 1 pick next year -- if it is set at quarterback -- and say, We'll give you two No. 1 picks this year, two No. 2 picks this year and one No. 1 pick next year. Would a team that has another quarterback be willing to deal the rights to Luck for five premier draft picks? My guess is no. But it doesn't mean New England couldn't try to set itself up for the next dozen years once Brady retires. It could be a very interesting storyline at next year's draft." |
but then schefter says a team with a QB WOULDN'T do that trade, which is what i had issue with5/2/2011 7:28:32 PM |

IMHO, ANY team should take that trade. 3 #1 picks and 2 #2's would have a HUGE impact on a team, not to mention the fact you could draft a QB in 2013 with one of the 2 first round picks the team would have (or trade them to move up).
Andrew Luck is not the greatest thing since sliced bread and isn't worth that many picks, so if someone offered that the team better jump on that deal. 5/2/2011 8:27:38 PM |

that's what's hilarious about the blog. the patriots would NEVER offer something like that, and yet in the infinitesimally small chance that they did, that idiot is saying the other team would turn it DOWN??? you could be drafting joe montana in his prime and still not turn that deal down 5/2/2011 9:56:04 PM |

The Pats are obviously targeting Luck next year. That's why they took Mallett in the 3rd round 5/2/2011 9:58:19 PM |

At least it appears he's trying (although poorly worded) to say NE wouldn't do that; not the team with the #1 pick. 5/3/2011 11:33:11 AM |

People are sleeping on Matt Barkley. Very good chance he'll be right up there with Luck on most draft boards and maybe even ahead of him on a few. Both are light years ahead of any QB in this class.
