enough talent AND veteran leadership to build around datsyuk, zetterberg, and holmstrom (strictly leadership)

lidstrom is the captain and brings the leadership but it is time to hang em up. he's too slow and detroit needs lockdown defenders, san jose has guys wide open too often and howard needs help. there is so much more that ken holland could do with lidstrom's 7 million dollar salary that he gets just cause of his legacy

Anyway, while I'll agree that he probably isn't the best coach for the Caps and they could use a change, what he did this season was pretty impressive. It's not that often that you see head coaches completely transforming their system successfully. They went from 16th defensively last season to 4th this.

He's had four years to develop a system that transitions well into the playoffs. He should have been fired last year. Hell, Michel Therrien was fired the year after he took the Pens to the finals. Defense doesn't matter if you stop scoring goals and a conference banner is nothing next to a Stanley Cup. I'm tired of being a fan of underperforming teams.
