For page 11
Nobody did anything wrong in this situation.
Wilson was looking out for his own future when he decided to play spring baseball. When that didn't work out like he hoped he gave Football one more shot. Instead of coming as the backup he wanted to impress scouts as much as possible so he chose a great team playing a pro style offense with plenty of weapons.
Glennon wants a shot to play in the NFL one day, to do that he needs to play football. I don't know what he was told when being recruited but I'm sure it wasn't "You'll have to be here 5 years and only get one year as a starter." He would have transferred if he wasn't the starter.
TOB is looking out for the team both now and in the future. There was a good chance that Wilson wasn't coming back at all, and if he didn't name Glennon the starter he would have transfered. Then if Wilson ended up playing baseball instead of college football we would be left with nobody but Brosius. "One in the hand is better than two in the bush" isn't a relevant quote because Wilson wasn't "in the hand" at the time the decision was made.
The press will probably misinterpret the situation to make us look bad, but what else is new right? 9/2/2011 12:24:42 PM |

well put. There isn't a villain in this situation and there's no point harboring bad feelings about it.
I just wonder, if Wilson thrives and impresses and manages to end up in the NFL, what college he'll be credited from.
/ that's a big if though, his size will work against him but his decision making and throwing ability might make up for it.

^^^^I would hope he still has pride in NC State and appreciates the opportunity. He wasn't that highly recruited out of high school (i know NCSU and Duke offered him, but not sure about others), and many schools wouldn't allow him to play both sports. NCSU gave him that chance and worked with him so he didn't have to sacrifice either, until this past off season where a lot of other factors and RW's own uncertainty became obstacles. 9/2/2011 1:12:39 PM |

how can you run a 2QB system when your other QB leaves because you don't treat him fairly? stupid fuck
Quote : | "i just don't understand how, without practicing with Wisconsin at spring practice, Wilson has this type of chemistry when dealing with these new receivers" |
It's actually simple: RW came in and was the saviour at Wisconsin, whereas here, he was a big question mark. He makes a commitment at Wisc and immediately comes in and practices. Here, he dilly dallies around and doesn't come to practice. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
Quote : | "Somehow he joined a team in the fall and he looks better than Philip Rivers." |
I could probably look like Philip Rivers against UNLV with Wisconsin's o-line
Quote : | "and it should cost him his job if we don't go to a bowl." |
yes, making the best decision you can make should cost you your job when dealing with a fuckin pussy that wants to have everything his way.
Quote : | "That and no QBs would ever want to come here again." |
How do you figure? It would seem that being fair to people who actually show the fuck up to practice and commit to the program would be a pretty big sell to any recruit.
Quote : | "But when said QB does commit to playing again there's no law saying you can't give him the nod." |
That's great. he never fucking committed when it mattered. And he paid the price for it. That's damn good coaching, expecting your players to commit to the program.9/2/2011 3:46:21 PM |

maybe i'm just remembering the string of events wrong, but i don't recall wilson ever committing to play football for us at all, much less when it mattered. as i recall he was playing baseball, thinking about coming back, transferring. that's it. there was never a time where he said "i want to come play football full time" and TOB said "nothx". that just didn't happen.
edit: you know what, i know that's true b/c i remember saying when he asked to transfer that it didn't matter b/c the rockies would never let him play another season of football. didn't know he was ready to leave TWO teams.

Wilson wanted to come back around the end of spring and be the starter.
TOB said maybe, but Glennon would def be starting and Wilson would be the backup, since Glennon had been there all spring.
Wilson said fuck that noise, you won't even let us compete to see who's better? Hell no, I'm going to a better team.
Wilson ended up at Wisconsin.
We'll see at the end of the year if it was the best choice.

It was UNLV, but RW is already putting himself in this history books. Last night, he set the Wisconsin school records for most yards in a game by a single player.
It wasn't just a good performance against a cupcake. It was a Wisconsin player's best performance ever against a cupcake.
At Wisconsin, barring injury, he's going to do as well as a human being can possibly do in 1 season.
^ Yep. The venerable JamesHenderson on packpride, the guy who is usually trustworthy and conservative wrt reporting rumors, said that TOB flat out told RW that he would not be able to compete for the start if he came back in the fall when RW approached him and said he wanted to come back.
All the people who assumed that TOB acted in good faith are now being proved wrong with the little bits of information that are actually coming out from as good a source as we can get.
TOB's decision had nothing to do with RW being undecided about football and had everything to do with favoritism for Glennon. Glennon transferring was the lesser evil compared to Wilson transferring. If that stuck us with Brosius next year, whose fault is it for not recruiting a QB between Glennon and Brosius? Second of all, a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. It's stupid to give up a guy who you know will be good this year for someone who you are unsure about next year. That's bad risk evaluation.
This whole thing only logically makes sense as a total cover-your-ass operation by TOB. Just bad decision-making and poor leadership.
