Saw sunn twice in a week, I don't get it. I mean its cool artistically but not worth getting a hipster boner over. lol i mean it wasn't even their idea in the first place...

As always I regret going to the metal shows at hopscotch and have the best time at the random shit someone tells me to go to.

Did anyone catch Oneida?

I'll post my shows attended in a bit, but I would love to point out that the Sunday night after Hopscotch sleeps are the greatest sleeps in the history of sleep

ahh, missed it the first time around

awesome

listening to America as I check them out

anyways, hearing Matthew E. White's backup singers deliver the "Same Old Shit" line as soulfully as they did twice in less than 24 hours definitely did not suck

Krallum,

I caught the last few songs from Oneida at TNN. Didn't seem like many others did, but after the flow of Fireball and PBR, I seem to remember it being a pretty good way to end the last night of the festival. Especially coming off of that note they played at Sunn O))) for 20 minutes

Local bands that I saw that were great:

Grohg

Bronzed Chorus
Zack Mexico

Out of town bands that I enjoyed:

Zola Jesus
Sunn O)))
Danny Brown
Jackie Chain

Bands that I hoped would rock but actually sucked:

Hacienda

Built to Spill
The Band in Heaven

maybe they were different in their heyday, but built to spill played pretty similarly to when i saw them at cat's cradle a few years ago--not really high energy. doug martsch seemed kind of bored. so i can't say i was very surprised with their city plaza set.

i was also eating delicious mexican zpizza on the patio at the time as well. i really can't recommend it enough.

^^i was eating delicious thai zpizza during built to spill.

took a slower paced approach this year but still saw just about everyone i intended to plus some. called an audible thursday night after deciding to stay for the entire matthew e. white set (best decision of the weekend) and went to oh sees instead of liars. that was a lot of fun and a good change of pace after spending the earlier part of the night sitting at memorial/fletcher. how was liars?

really enjoyed all of the outdoor day parties this year. wasn't in love with the new love language lineup/songs, but still always fun to see them. megafaun and co. was great on saturday. so was the rain for allowing me to go to my friend's place and take a power nap before the roots.

zola jesus at lincoln was just as gorgeous as i expected. dan deacon just as wacky as i expected. wye oak as rocking a way to close the festival as i expected. can't wait for next year.

Liars were good, but that new record has so much sequenced stuff it's hard for them to dig into it. Left after four songs to see Oh Sees and don't regret it.

Speaking of, Thee Oh Sees are playing in Richmond with Ty Segall in a couple weeks. Shit's gonna be killer.
