except everyone knows duke is going to go on a backbreaking run because thats what good teams always do. we got throttled start to finish and the preseason player of the year had a meltdown and fouled out with 17 minutes left.

our other all american did nothing but turn the ball over.

our senior shooter went 1-11.

our senior big man fouled out.

These guys played 2 good games last year and we extrapolated that they would be great. brown wood and Leslie are just above average players.

We will fluctuate in and out of the top 25 this year and finish 3rd or 4th in the acc. We are not a top 15 team and will never be.

Post rolly eyes and Tell me 3. The tournament games were our best games of the season. We lost to every ranked game we played all year. We can beat decent teams like umass but when it comes to the dukes and carolinas we lost everytime.

Our ranking was based solely on extrapolation of our last few games and freshmen being good (which is true)

It's a matter of playing seriously. Dakich was right at the beginning of the ball game -- we came out as if nothing was on the line and this was just a basketball game. The rest of the game unfolded exactly has he foretold.

In reality, the best way to play well in the post season is to approach every game as a postseason game so that we get used to the intensity and the pressure of winning every possession. Once you get used to playing at a high level, it becomes second nature and you can't imagine not winning every possession.

We aren't anywhere near that level of seriousness.

Brown got embarrassed by freshmen (on our team and their team). He really has to reevaluate how he is approaching these games, because that was a Ryan Harrow type outing for him.

My only real take away from this game is the lack of leadership expressed by our upperclassmen. Leslie especially went out like a complete chump, and Brown showed no emotion whatsoever. That could be a serious problem going forward. Other than that, we played like shit and got our asses kicked by an underrated team. It happens.

Howell - Only played 16 minutes before fouling out, 3 rebounds and 6 points
Wood -36 minutes, 1 for 11 from the field, 6 points
Leslie - Only made it one minute more than Howell before fouling out, 17 minutes. Our leading scorer from last year gets 2 freaking points in 17 minutes of play.

35.5% shooting as a team. Only 7 assists total. We got out-rebounded 42 to 27. 50% on free throws.

Incredible. What are some theories on what exactly imploded?

They just seemed lethargic to me. Lazy. Also missed shots I can handle. The number of missed layups by nearly the entire team is a little harder to swallow.

I'm pretty sure the team just hooked up with a big bag of Puerto Rican schwag before the game. Not the end of the world, and we were def. over-rated, but things will be fine. No such thing as a good loss, but there is much to be learned from an early season game like this one.

Same here. It seemed like every bounce went OKST's way today. We came out flat and they came out ready to roll. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for the team and it won't happen again.

number 4 Carolina lost to an eventual 15-16 Santa Clara team that was god awful ... and they were down by 20 in that game multiple times in the second half and only made it respectable in garbage time. Then went what 30-2 and won the national title. Teams lose these games all the fucking time.

Why do you insist on talking about a game where unc was missing Raymond felton? Kinda an important detail. No relevance here.

That was a terrible loss. Ok state gave us plenty of chances to get back in it but our offense was abysmal.


Brown can't play any worse than he's playing right now. Leslie reverted to freshman ball hog Leslie. And wood looked like we were playing unc.

Could be a helpful loss. They certainly won't comeback thinking we can wax everyone in the country just by showing up.

I still think we are a top 15 team with the chance to be top 5-10. That game was not very indicative of our talent level. Pathetic performance from everyone but purvis and warren.


I'm a bit worried about Lewis though, not sure he has enough time to develop into a positive contributor this season.
