So resigning Ozil and adding two aging attackers fixes your problems now? Your team just lost 3-1 to Swansea and lost its best player to a team Wenger vowed to never sell to again.
Its not going to be easy for City to carry on this form for years and win the title by a huge margin every year. They are still on track to break records. Sure City's future looks brighter right now and I am not going to deny it but I am certainly more confident of competing with Mourinho than Arsenal should be under Wenger who is declining heavily over the last two years. Comparing a team running away with it in first place to United in sceond. Well in that case I suppose the league should just give up for the next three years because by this assertion no one is winning it anytime soon.
Arsenal shouldn't have waited this long to resign Ozil and then get forced into terrible negotiations for a player like Sanchez. Arsenal shouldn't have also waited till January to then load up on the front 4 but still completely ignore the back four. Continues to show poor planning at the club.

I’m not defending Wenger. He’s well past it at this point but you’re sitting here like you didn’t finish sixth last year even! Arsenal should do what United did last year and say fuck it in the league and go balls out for Europa and League Cup.
And regarding Ozil, no one in any top five league in Europe has created as many chances since he joined. He’s still a game changer and I’m pretty pumped to see him distribute to guys like Laca, Aubamayeng and Mkhi versus Walcott, Ox and Welbeck..

United also won two trophies along the way and played 64 matches, pretty sure the most out of all English teams. Its pretty clear why we finished sixth last year. From March to May the team was gassed and had a massive injury crisis. Arsenal only have Europa to play for now and more importantly the Arsenal first team squad has no youth. Bellerin and Iwobi are the only notable players under 25 that feature for the squad. Holding and Chambers are the next two and they aren't close to developed yet. United has Martial, Shaw, Lingard, Lukaku, Pogba, and Rashford. All under 25 who are already an integral part of a squad that has improved massively. So again yes the future looks a lot better for United than it does for Arsenal at the moment. Not to mention the uncertainty in management.1/31/2018 1:51:25 PM |

Lucky goals for the spurs. On balance of play 1-0 to them is fair. Credit to Poch though. Our midfield can’t handle the press and he has nullified it. Mou needs to switch it up and put in an extra man in the middle. Young should not have started. Would have preferred Shaw. 1/31/2018 3:54:33 PM |

The attack. Yes. I still believe we had a great attacking selection but Poch did well to nullify it. My complaint was with Young so.... we also should have adjusted the midfield at halftime. I did like the Pogba substitution though. He played terribly and it was good to send a message.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I really have to hand it to Poch today. What a performance. I haven't see us this nullified before under Mou and in retrospect I think this was our worst performance of the year and credit to Poch for that.
I think Poch read Mourinho like a book and knew exactly what he would try to do. The pressing from spurs basically meant Pogba and Matic were useless. united didn't have a midfield today and in retrospect I think Mourinho would have been much better off starting Matic and Carrick in the middle with Pogba playing off them. Bench Lingard. I think that one change alone would have led to a different result.
United were bullied Everytime Matic and Pogba touched the ball. I still believe that front four we have is brilliant. Sanchez was our best player and honestly what impressed me most about him today was the vision. Sanchez had plenty of dinks and forward passes that could have unlocked the spurs defence. I have been crying out for a united player to consistently send balls over the too into the box.
I blame Mourinho more than the players today. He got outclassed tactically. That said I think players like Smalling, Pogba and Young were bullied off the pitch today and I am glad Mourinho subbed Pogba. Well done spurs. Good win. 1/31/2018 5:43:50 PM |

Fair enough, posted it right after the spurs match so. If we had to lose then I am still not too worried about Spurs away.
We still have Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and City left but three of them are coming to Old Trafford and then we have to go to the Etihad.
Get results against the other three at home (hopefully two wins and a draw if not all wins) and we should hopefully finish second comfortably. That week over christmas is still the one that I am pissed about. 6 points dropped there with three needless back to back draws. Would have been 9 points ahead of 3rd and 9 behind 1st. Would have been interesting going into the tail end at that differential. Only have ourselves to blame.

wazza it wouldn't have been interesting as City are miles better than United. You would never turn over nine points against them even if that happened. Stop being delusional.
That would mean that they would have to drop points in 4 more matches the rest of the way in and have you win out from February. Neither of those things would ever happen. 2/2/2018 6:55:08 AM |
wazza31 All American 2433 Posts user info edit post |
So what does that say about the spurs in 5th? If city is miles ahead us then no other team in the league is close.
United dropped 7 points in 2011 to let city win with 6 games to go. Maybe you haven’t been following football for a while, which wouldn’t be surprising but crazier things have happened. Also 9 points with a quarter of the season left is nothing.
Lol delusion. Clearly just said spurs were the better team and we have ourselves to blame for not being closer to city. It’s incredible how people’s opinion change after one loss. The lack of respect is pretty glaring but not surprising considering how much bitterness there is towards united and Jose.

I'm not on here claiming that we could overtake City from 9 down and I said months ago that this City team will go down as one of the all-timers, so yeah I already cleared that up way back.
Quote : | "Must be frustrating as fuck being so retarded that everyone behind united believes they are better and yet sit behind us and have been all year. Incredible." |
You apparently think that United could catch City from 9 down because United could play better football for a few months in a row, yet you sit 15 points behind them and have trailing been all year. Incredible.
It would probably be in your best interest to stop talking about City period. They have you completely outclassed in every area on the pitch. The delusion comment is about you thinking you can compete with them. It's not going to happen wazza. As it sits right now with the points, they will win the league against you at the Etihad if they win out which is highly likely. That would be a fun afternoon.2/2/2018 11:04:34 AM |

But... nobody is doing that.
You have acted and continue to act all season long that United and City are the two class acts in England this season as some sort of weird equivalency game. City is miles ahead of EVERYONE. That’s the only point being made from what I can tell. United is much closer to sixth than first.
But I guess congrats for being the tallest midget (for now).

Never said play better football. In fact I have been plenty complimentary of this city team, its incredible what they have managed to do but you are delusional to think that 9 points is an insurmountable gap with 13 matches left, no matter how good the other team is playing. Situations happen and form changes. I guess you have never seen your team come from behind to do some incredible things and being a state fan on top compounds your pessimism but I have seen enough comebacks with United to know it isn't over till the fat lady sings. Regardless its a moot point that you latched onto for whatever absurd reason because we aren't 9 points behind City and it was too late after those three draws in December.

Sums it up really. Ribs is the type of fan that would call in to talk radio if he were a city fan and say we have outgrown the premier league. Lol I have physically seen Arsenal win the title at Old Trafford. This city team winning the title against us wouldn't even bother me at this point. I still find it hilarious you think it is highly likely when that match is still so far away. Guess all that built up bitterness really wants to see it happen, hope for your sad sake you get to celebrate in the glory of another team.
Quote : | "You have acted and continue to act all season long that United and City are the two class acts in England" |
Lol what? If anything I see fans of the other teams continue acting like because City is so amazing this year they are going to build a dynasty. I have been plenty complimentary of City and have repeatedly said United needs to put the pressure on them to force a title race. Key word: Force, meaning I believed its a long shot but we just gotta keep winning. If United were truly 9 points behind (moot point now because we aren't) then yes I would have still been bullish on forcing a title race. Also see the below comments:
After the chelsea game:
Quote : | "lol no crickets here. We deserved the loss and have the class to admit when we do. Kante didn't do anything special to make Mikhi not play. Mikhi has been playing like that since Pogba got hurt...." |
You can see my comments after the Spurs match above on how I think Poch and spurs deserved credit and outclassed us. More class than ribs who disappeared after making this post prior to the first united match where they lost:
Quote : | "I'd have to say I would be disappointed if we don't get all 3" |
11/28 before spurs at Old trafford: Quote : | "Huge match today. I can see the title slipping away if we drop points here. Next three are Watford, Arsenal and City. I would say 6 points out of 6 is a must if City continue winning.
I predict a draw tonight based on recent performance but its time for Jose and the team to step up now." |
11/29
Quote : | " nah I was just looking at where City can drop points as the rest are obviously playing some catch up. I still think pool and chelsea have an outside chance but I don't see the consistency from those two teams to catch up to City. United has actually had a brilliant start by our standard. Only 3 of Sir Alex' 13 title winning sides had this kind of start sitting at 32 points after 14 matches. If it wasn't for City breaking records United's start would be a really good one.
The knee jerkers think the title race is over but Pep's teams do struggle on the backend of the season and they will drop points. If they don't then obviously they deserve the title." |
Again United still has been the most consistent team after City, not to say we are a class above but our consistency in beating teams below 6th is why I am still bullish we should be finishing top 4 and second. You saw just this week how inconsistent pool and chelsea are with their results against Swansea and Bournemouth. 3 of our 4 losses have been against the top 6, two of them away. 3 of our losses have been away from home (Huddersfield). Only City has managed to beat us at home. Again not saying United is a class above, just more consistent then the other 4 below us. This can also change but after 25 matches I have reason to believe it won't and if it does then fair play.
Quote : | "See I get this. I have been very complimentary about this city side and they deserve it. However its hard for me to see journalists constantly shitting on Mourinho and praising Guardiola for the exact same things.
[quote]Thats fine but I am happy with the progression. I have said it before, City's success isn't United's failure. City's season is an anomaly and if we lose the title to them this year because they score over 90 points then hats off to them. They are simply dominating it and its good for them. Any other season we would be title challengers and thats good enough for me. Still have 20 matches to go. Anything can happen in football." |
Where exactly have I acted like United is a class above the rest or even deserve to be on the same level as City? I don't think its delusional to say that had we taken care of business that last week of December and been 9 points behind City I would be optimistic with 13 matches still left.
I have been more complimentary of rivals more than anyone in here has ever been about United but you continue coming in here after every United loss looking for a reaction. I post about how I think Poch got it tactically right and tried to start a discussion based on that but that didn't go anywhere. Then I post about how I believe if we had taken care of business we would have been 9 points clear of 3rd and 9 behind city with 13 matches left. Again discussing a hypothetical situation blaming ourselves. All I said was it would have been interesting with that differential and was met with this, "Stop being delusional."
So again, excuse my delusion because I have clearly been acting like United is the best and biggest thing ever correct?

^^^ he works his ass off for 90 minutes. Given how much he’s played for Chile too he’s a freak of nature. His only flaw is also what makes him great — selfishness. I guarantee he doesn’t find Ramsey twice in the same manner that Mkhitaryan did today but he also probably takes on Evertons porous defense and score two himself.
^^ but what is the point of your core point? You didn’t win those games. Just like Arsenal outplayed United at the Emirates and still lost. The only thing that matters is the three points you got. Liverpool should have beat Swansea and three years ago they should beat Palace. The what if game is beyond stupid..
^ this. United is probably the second best team in the PL this year. Is anyone saying they are not in that argument? What does it matter, though, when City is so far superior in every way to the entire league? Does anyone give a flying fuck or give credit to Arsenal for finishing second two years ago? God damn what a match.
We were just talking about the through ball on Kane, he's clearly in an offside position, but I think they awarded anyway because of the deflection on the way through off a Liverpool player.
I can't say for sure one way or another if that's an intent-based decision where it has to be a clear backpass for the offensive player to pick up the ball in that spot or if it just gets redirected on the way through. Anybody know a concrete interpretation of that rule?

Sure he touched it but it wasn't deliberately flicked up and backwards like that, lol. The second penalty had contact but it's so obvious Lamela is doing absolutely nothing to play the ball and he's rewarded for it. I hate that shit so much. My two main issues with the call are:
1. Moss had a good angle and very obviously waved play on/no penalty. Why did he let the linesman with a worse view make that decision instead and overrule him? Madness. 2. The entire game had so many non-fouls let go and Moss let so much contact happen the entire game but we get into the penalty area and twice, the slightest touch is a penalty? Why so inconsistent?
Anyway, I look at it like this - both teams needed some luck from referees/other team to get one goal and they each had one brilliant individual effort to get the other. LFC better first half, Spurs better second half. Draw's fair. Good point on the road for Spurs even though I wouldn't say they were amazing or anything. Lovren/VvD shut down Kane all game. Could say the same on the other end. For two teams known for attacking and yeah there were 4 goals, I thought both teams defensively were very good.
