It'd probably be a lot worse because you're talking about a lot more players and you're talking about not just a coach allegedly having knowledge of the relationship (as the NCAA believed it had with Todd McNair) but of an assistant, Butch Davis' top assistant (no less) John Blake getting a cut. Plus, there's also an academic scandal on top of that. Four year post-season ban?" |

if unc skates, I have a bad feeling about donations from NCSU alums, as well as USC alums. I pulled all donations from college athletics. I don't feel the need to fund the educations of people like Marvin Austin and (yes I hate to say it) Damon Thornton and Kenny Inge. I work hard and don't need to support that shit.
If they (UNC) can just roll the dice and play questionable "student-athletes" then either the ncaa is a bunch of fucking pussies, or they really don't give a fuck about agents/academics/improper benefits
If they skate, I say let's hire Blake at state and get a bunch of thugs too.
Let those bastards enjoy winning, because it's going to be rough after the ncaa is through with that bunch of cheating douchebags.
If more "student-athletes" were like Russell Wilson, I could be encouraged to give more $.

Agree 100% INTs aside, he really is a special young man with a good head on his shoulders. When its all said and done, I think RW will succeed with the things he commits too (football/baseball/family/business) because he has so much character. Guys like MA will get paid big bucks to play on Sunday, but I have a feeling that success will not be a word used to describe his life's work.

things have an interesting way of working themselves out - I believe you reap what you sow. I still wouldn't trade our season for unc's.
I'm proud of our team and our QB - unc better enjoy being good this year, because they are going to be irrelevant for many years to come because of the decisions of their "student athletes", coaches, athletic directors, tutors, and boosters. 10/16/2010 11:33:53 PM |

HS football talent in NC is spread thin due to all the programs within the state as well as some of the best players getting poached to out of state schools.
UNC getting hit with the big stick would help us towards the goal of getting a stranglehold on in-state talent.
Losing to ECU does not help the cause one iota. 10/16/2010 11:39:24 PM |

man, no shit, but I don't think one OT game (that really doesn't affect our conference record) is going to change anything.
fagolina getting hammered will help - and could solidify us as the premier team in the state. I hate that we have to compete against 5 (7?) schools in the state for recruits. Ohio has 1 major conference school - 0F COURSE THEY ARE GOING TO GET THE BEST IN STATE PLAYERS FOR FOOTBALL
we will be fine, relax everyone, let's wait to see what happens.
I am very unhappy with unc fans who think they are great and winning and that they give the best hand jobs - why don't you have some accountability and distance yourself from the corruption and general shitassery (yes I invented that word) that is the unc program?
NCAA - are you listening? These assholes think they are great - they have circumvented your rules and are winning as a result. Don't screw this up. Don't.

I'm having a brainfart this morning, I'm having a argument with a buddy of mine and cant remember which player was suspended after the 4th week of the season for UNC. I keep thinking of Searcy, but he's the guy who got his suspension removed.
Also, what ever happened to that part of the story? The guy (that I cant remember) who got kicked off of the team was likely playing when his name was part of the investigation. Whats the likelihood that they lose wins from this season for playing an ineligible player?
This story kinda got lost in the cracks over the last couple of weeks 10/17/2010 10:17:12 AM |

Why I can't call myself a 'State fan'
Yes, I'm a junior here at State. Yes, I have gone here for my whole college career. Yes, I pull for State. But I cannot be a 'State fan' because of the loser mentality that so many of you share.
At the Virginia Tech game, our football team was railing the Hokies at the beginning of the game. All the sudden, I hear everyone in the Wolfpack Club section start talking about how UNC is down 14 against ECU. All the sudden, all the 'State fans' were not focused on their own team, but were more focused on a game that doesn't have anything to do with State at all. The fans got out of the game because they were focusing on insignificant things, the team got out of the game because the fans were out of it, and we lost a game that we should have won. That is a loser mentality. To be focused on wanting UNC to lose, and not caring about what your team is doing is pretty pathetic. UNC went on to win that game 42-17, while we lost 41-30 against VT.
Even as I was leaving the game, I heard chants of "ECU ECU ECU," which was just ignorance on those peoples part, but it still showed this loser mentality that 'State fans' possess. Our team just lost, but they were getting excited because they thought that UNC had lost as well. As if UNC losing would make it all better. We should have still been undefeated after that game, but that doesn't matter, because (we think) UNC got beat by ECU.
As I'm writing this, I am watching the ECU-N.C. State game. We're at the end of the first quarter, state is down 21 to ECU. This is what really fueled my frustration with 'state fans' and pushed me to write this. Any 'State fans' chanting "ECU ECU ECU" now?
So, how does N.C. State curb this problem? How do we change 'State fans' into true fans? First off, we need to realize that UNC doesn't think about us unless they are about to play us. They focus on their own team, like we should be doing. We need to start focusing on our team and only our team. We have a real chance to have a really good football season this year, but it's not going to be as good as it could be because 'State fans' care more about other things. This is our best chance to change. We should get behind our football team 100 percent and stop talking about UNC.

Re: Ohio State.
Ohio is fertile recruiting ground, but Ohio State is also a MUCH larger national recruiting school than we are obviously. Even if the had three or four BCS schools (and really do Wake and Duke cut THAT MUCH in to our recruiting? -- we're basically competing with UNC and Clemson more than anyone else) it wouldn't affect them that much... 10/18/2010 9:27:24 AM |

If they do ever have to forfeit the wins I'm sure it will be long after all the money that comes as a result of those wins is made. So after their bowl game, maybe even a few years from now.

^^ I agree with that statement, but in general the Southern states are harder to recruit than the Northeast/upper Midwest states due to the amount of teams in each area with both the SEC and ACC overlapping each other. With Big Ten programs, they have less head to head competition with big name schools in their area of the country.

Charlton sounds like a bitch. Why complain about stuff like that? The team has gotten a ton of support from the fans this year and in the past when we've had losing records and been at the bottom of the ACC at this point. Every single fanbase looks at their rival's games that day if their team doesn't win. It makes you feel better about your team's loss.
Anyway, back to UNC. 10/18/2010 10:49:45 AM |
