nope, I am as well. I actually can't stand Brazil

Quote :

interesting. why do you think this? I mean, Brazil are definitely the favorites but "zero chance" is a bit harsh.

because they only beat Honduras and Switzerland. because they struggled in their last game against Spain (the first big test for them in the cup). Because Suazo is good, but not strong enough against Brazil. and because Brazil handled them in qualifying and copa america. 3-1 brazil is my guess.

I thought they looked pretty dangerous against Spain to start, and then the red card put a damper on their attacking style.

they'll get some chances that's for sure but with the suspensions in the back, I think Brazil will be too much

yeah, really, suazo is the only one who can make something happen. i just think brazil is too much. fabiano is playing too good, and this might be the game where robinho makes his presence felt. i don't like brazil, but the possibility of a brazil-argentina final makes my mouth water.

Interesting 5 foot jump by Lucio after getting fouled, I always jump like that when somebody tackles my leg

if he wasn't being such a fag about it, he might have had a good chance at getting the call

Yup. Maybe you should spend less time waiving your hand up calling offsides and more time putting yourself between the ball and goal, stupid Chilean dude.

yep. growing up as a goalkeeper, I don't think there was ever anything more frustrating than playing behind defenders who did that.

i'm afraid i gave Chile too much credit with my 3-1 prediction. This might get out of hand. Won't be long until Robinho tries to get in on the action.

On a positive note, this game has been reffed well, so far. Comparatively, at least

Announcer: "Once again, leading the game without playing particularly well."

What the hell game is he watching? Maybe I don't know soccer well enough to call Brazil's play in this game so far "not particularly well".

i love how the players who really get hurt are the ones who stop immediately on the ground, but the ones who fake hurt roll over like 12 times on the ground...how is it not obvious to refs who is injured and who isnt? when i got hurt in soccer the last thing i wanted to do was roll around on my injury

eh. Hoping for a Chilean upset was always a bit of wishful thinking. I wasn't exactly going out on a limb by picking one of the best teams in the world. Besides, Fabiano and Robinho have a history of picking Chile apart, and generally play well against American (North and South) sides. I should probably quit while I'm ahead

hahahaha:

FIFA's reaction to some of the controversy over the England goal and Tevez's offside? Ban replays on the scoreboards in the stadium.

Quote :
"FIFA has reacted to the controversy in the game between Argentina and Mexico - by censoring match action shown on giant screens inside stadiums.

On Sunday, replays of Argentina's disputed first goal against Mexico triggered arguments on the pitch as Mexico's players protested when Carlos Tevez was shown as being clearly offside.

FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot said replaying the incident was "a clear mistake.""

At least for the goal line technology, Blatter has said they will at least revisit the idea next month.

Sorry if all of this was posted somewhere here already.

yea I don't think it has anything to do with "fairweather" fans; you can expect a drop in buzz in a thread like this when your own country gets knocked out. I mean, I've still watched every single game and plan to until the end, but there is no doubt that it is at least a little more exciting and there is more to talk about when the US is in there..especially when you have followed them from the beginning of qualification through this tournament.

edit: Ok I gotcha, that makes more sense. Although there was always going to be more discussion about the USMNT than other teams even among the hardcores in this thread.
