^^ thats a pretty athletic big man, I like it. I love a football playin big boy with some twinkle toes on him.

Stocker reminds me a lot of the young cam newton...dude has some LONG strides on him.

wonder if he will be recruited as a QB, no footage of any throws what soever.

He can read D's well it seems and looks VERY elusive.

Couple throws here.

That's a reel for a Coatesville WR, so there's bunch of passes shown there.

So who the hell is going to be the QB in this class, Summers or Stocker? Maybe they both being recruited to play QB, but that kind of goes against TOB and Bible's one QB a year philosophy.

i'm all for two athletic QBs in one class. it creates competition. the added caveat is that whoever loses will add athletic ability to another position (as long he's ok with switching positions).

"Also, some site has McDaniels quoted as he did NOT commit. I've asked Sammy Batten to clarify/update officially."

Dumb kids. Confirmed that he has NOT committed. Forgot to check with Mama first.

Quote :
"Jack Britt's McDaniel not ready to commit

The confusion that is often present in the world of college football recruiting appeared in Cumberland County over the last 24 hours.

Late Monday evening Jack Britt coach Richard Bailey alerted me via text that two of his players - linebacker M.J. Salahuddin and wide receiver Jalen McDaniel - had made oral commitments to N.C. State after participating in the Wolfpack summer camp last weekend.

Both are superb talents, but McDaniel will only be a junior this fall. So his pledge to the Wolfpack seemed a bit premature, considering he can't actually sign a letter-of-intent with any school until February 2013.

But after conversations with members of the N.C. State coaching staff and the 6-foot-2, 195-pound McDaniel, Bailey was confident enough that a commitment had been made to alert the local media.

McDaniel's mother, Tanya Locklear, had different thoughts on the subject Tuesday morning. Locklear called and informed me very politely that her son was not committed to any school. Not Auburn, Clemson or N.C. State, all three of which have verbally made scholarship offers to McDaniel.

"He is still wide open,'' Locklear said.

Smart lady. McDaniel is lucky to have her and Bailey in his corner to help guide him through what is shaping up to be an intense recruitment for the next two years.

Way too many things can happen between now and next year that make this the wrong time for a prospect of McDaniel's age to be making such an important decision about his future."

"dumb kids"? really? It seems more like it was an overly excited Sammy Batten that didn't get it straight from the kid's mouth. Even in his story i was a little suspicious because there was no direct quote from the kid, only his coach's evaluation of him.

One of the top signal callers in the Northeast in the class of 2012 could turn out to be A.J. Doyle of Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury, Mass.). He was on the Rutgers campus in February, and is getting interest from the likes of Notre Dame, Stanford and USC. He possesses a strong arm, and already has a season's worth of starting experience. Find out what is going on with this rising prospect."

"Pack nets football recruits
BY TIM STEVENS - Staff Writer

N.C. State's football recruiting showed big gains this week as five high school seniors announced commitments to the Wolfpack since Monday, giving them nine overall and six in June.

Fayetteville Britt linebacker M.J. Salahuddin (6 feet 3, 185) committed on Monday. Newark (Del.) High receiver David Grinnage (6-5, 243) , Boiling Springs (S.C.) High lineman Eddie Gordon (6-3, 315) and Coatesville (Pa.) Area High quarterback Manny Stocker (6-3, 200) followed on Tuesday. West Roxbury (Ma.) Catholic Memorial quarterback A.J. Doyle (6-3, 224) committed on Wednesday.

"It really isn't that unusual to get commitments in bunches," said Miller Safrit, a recruiting analyst for ESPN. "Kids go to camp and are evaluated and get offers. Or they may already have offers, but go to camp and are excited about what they learned or they mesh with coaches."

Gordon said he knew he wanted to commit to State a week ago after a campus visit but waited until Tuesday because it was his 17th birthday. State was the first school to notice Gordon, inviting him to a camp after his freshman year, and State was the first team to offer him a scholarship. He also had offers from Furman and East Carolina and briefly leaned toward ECU.

"After I visited there [N.C. State], I really liked Coach [Tom] O'Brien and his staff, the players and the players that are coming in," Gordon said. "The facilities are fantastic and I really like the school. I knew it was the place for me."

Boiling Springs coach Bruce Clark said Gordon had made himself into an outstanding prospect.

"He is an exceptional blocker," Clark said. "He has tremendous feet, changes direction well and is excellent blocking downfield. He has great movement as a pass blocker."

Greensboro Page quarterback James Summers (6-2, 196) committed to State in April so the addition of Doyle and Stocker gives the Wolfpack three quarterbacks recruits. Doyle is expected to play linebacker, though, and the other two QB prospects are outstanding athletes, Safrit said.

"Quarterback may be the most difficult position to evaluate," Safrit said. "[Former State QB] Russell Wilson was a two-star recruit at of high school [on a five star ranking] and there are a lot of teams around that would like to have player like Russell Wilson at quarterback."

Grinnage also is expected to play a new position. He played H-back in Newark's spread offense, but has been recruited as a potential tight end, according to Newark coach Butch Simpson.

"You don't hear the ball when it hits his hands," Simpson said. "He has incredibly soft hands. Catching the ball is probably the thing that he does best."

Safrit said the five new commitments are the type of players that O'Brien traditionally builds around.

"There isn't one guy in the group that really jumps out at you, but they are all good players and O'Brien does a great job evaluating," Safrit said.

The entire 2011 recruiting class qualified. The first time in over 10 years.

It's not a flashy recruiting class, but I think it's a solid one that will provide depth and a much needed special teams boost.

"WR Hakeem Flowers (Wade Hampton HS, Simpsonville, S.C.) -- Flowers adds some badly-needed size and athleticism to a group of wide receivers that is largely untested. He is one of the recruits who could see early playing time, given the team's lack of depth at his position."

Also, its not 10 years, the article said 13 years, and that was simply as long as the PP recruiting analyst had been keeping track of that, it may be longer, and I would suspect it is.

Rivals' listing of our qualified 2011 commitments looks better than Scout's:

http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/commitments/2011/northcarolinastate-7;_ylt=AsMbbO1xXeqySMcLdhzDyjVHPZB4

(fwiw, three of six of our 2*s are ST players, who are all ranked in the top5 at their position by some recruiting services)

I remember seeing Andre Brown's listed major as Computer Science his freshman year. That did not last. I can't imagine trying to get an engineering degree with football responsibilities as well.

I did a double take when I saw that too . That said I'll fully cop to CSC not being as stringent or as difficult as most of the other degrees in the COE. It does seem take a certain mindset though.

IIRC many scouts said that he would have been one of the top players in the state his senior year had he had the grades. They knew he wouldn't qualify and that's why schools didn't offer him. Had he qualified he would have been at State. Good to see he worked hard in JUCO both on the field and in the classroom for him to get another shot at playing major college football.

^^not to split hairs, but is that 2* rating from now or from when he was in HS? if it's HS, how would a top player in the state be 2*? i can't imagine his rating is affected by poor grades. or maybe it is, i don't know if they factor in a player's potential desirability to schools in those oft-incorrect player ratings.

dude sounds like a beast though, those are solid numbers. TOB is bringing in some big strong monsters for the lines.

yeah I don't buy the "he wasn't rated highly because they knew he wouldn't qualify" reasoning either...it didn't seem to affect Alfy Hill or Freshad Hunter at all.

fundamentals are great but if you want to win football games you need talent, speed strength. Proper footwork on the o-line doesn't mean shit if you are on your ass b/c the d-lineman just bowled you over.

there was an lb recruit a couple years back that the pp guys were in love with that had no shot to qualify. he was like 6'2 and ran a 4.4 scout didnt have him ranked either. no idea where he is today

alfy hill was expected to qualify or at least have a shot (also he was interested in unc for a while) so obv he got the stars. hunter is a good example though
