When you read letters from the civil war, North Carolina got way more snow days than we do now. Why do you think there’s so many Christmas stories and songs about a white Christmas but this basically doesn’t happen anywhere anymore?

Man I remember growing up near Greensboro we'd have 1-2 really good snows with at least 5 inches a year. For a week after the cold would settle in and we'd go sledding nightly until it thawed. On top of that we'd have surprise systems drop in and get us out of school. That just doesn't seem to happen anymore. The small disturbances are now the only wintry precip they see.

Cold air should def be there. Been trending down for us in texas, usually beat yall by a day or so on the sweeping cold fronts. Even put a snokeflake in forecast thursday. Wednesday to Sat highs not above 40. I’d say this seems more promising based on temps

FFS it was 10 degrees warmer yesterday that forecast (the night before). And a week or two back before that it was 48 on a day it was supposed to be 68 (I remember this because I'd made plans to play volleyball with friends ) lol

I used to get an annual dose of winter weather by going to an event called Frostburn.

It's an outdoor camping event in northern West Virginia each February. Last year when I was there I woke up in my tent and it was 9 degree.

I've enjoyed large bonfires in white out conditions.

COVID cancelled it this year.
