So when it comes to cardio work,

I can run 30min and burn ~500 calories

or I can do a brisk incline walk for about 45min and burn ~500 calories

which is better for me in regards to burning fat and trimming up?

treadmill :\ I need to find a good mapped out place soon though. I get very bored on the treadmill and feel like a hamster on a wheel. I ran a 5K on centennial last March but I would rather not do that course since it was kind of a bitch

^^^I'd go 30 seconds as fast as possible, 30 seconds recovery...repeat 10-15x after an initial 5min warmup...so you're done w/ cardio in 20min

looking ahead to long boring sessions of cardio really brings me down, so boring! I'd rather just burn ass and get out of there and into the sauna for an extra 10 minutes....stretch it out!

Mapmyrun.com is a good site, but I think it's a little annoying and an over-abundance of buttons.

For simplicity in mapping out your run, try http://www.gmap-pedometer.com

Here's my problem:

In indoor soccer, I can go the entire game without being tired but

I get completely exhausted to the point of having breathing difficulties if I sprint a few times down the field

like my long-term energy levels are fine, but short-term is shit

Solutions?

Currently doing jump-rope/lateral step/mountain climb intervals. It's too fucking cold/dark for sprints.

Can you do sprints on a treadmill/at a local gym's basketball court?

What about high intensity work on something like a stair climber?

eat more fats and less carbs...make your trigs more available for energy and reduce dependence on glucose for short term intense exercise

i missed the gym yesterday

legs today

heres a sample of what leg days look like:

smith machine squats: 3 x 15 (70, 85, 100 lbs)
then i took it all the way down to 45 (i just wanted to see how low to the floor i could go....about 12 reps)

loaded leg press: 3 x 15 (120, 135, 150)

glue kickbacks (i think thats what they are) 3 x 15 (30, 45, 55)

free weight squats 3X 15 (45)

100 lunges 15 lb weights

seated upright hamstring curls 3 x 15 (90, 100, 110)

then i did the stair stepper for 15 min for a "cool down"

No, just because it's either impossible or dangerous to go 90-100% of V02 max on a machine. And I don't have access to an indoor court.

I probably should, but I never do leg days.

I run ~20 miles a week, spin and swim. I figure my legs are probably getting enough work.

^ x 4
they were walking lunges so i just pace up and down the gym until ive done 100.

i went a little heavy on the loaded leg press so my legs felt like jello the whole time after that!
i was saying in the back of my head "please don't fall, please don't fall "

So zumba kicked my ass so hard that my 5-mile run turned into 35 minutes of elliptical. Such a wuss. I may have to become a zumba instructor. This class is ridiculously fun!

And Joie, you don't need to lose a thing! You're hawt! But if you want variety in your cardio routine, def do zumba.

60 minutes on the elliptical.

No way that calorie counter thing is remotely accurate, but it said 1425 or something. If I burned a thousand I'd be happy, but I'm skeptical of even that.

^no way! (about the accuracy )
i use it as a gauge...
i put in the same stats every time and keep a mental note of where i am as compared to other days
