total votes dont really matter, just record,.... b/c the top 6 teams based on record go to the playoffs

yeah, think of the overall votes sort of like margin of victory. it's nice to have a lot, but not what counts. if you look at the standings you'll notice that the mascots with the worst records have the most overall votes. it will only come into play as a tie breaker.
