I was about to see Def Leppard and Journey in Charlotte (last year I think) but it started to rain and my friends didn't want to stand in the rain to see Def Leppard so we just left.

Saw Deer & The Headlights, As Tall As Lions, and Mae tonight in San Diego on vacation

fantastic small venue, and while bands 1 & 3 were FANTASTIC, ATAL had an awful attitude, played too long, and cranked their bass guitar to 11. They were teh suck.

I'm a fan of their song, "A Strange Education," it was an iTunes free download of the week a few months back, but I still can't decide on the rest of the album.

agreed. okkervil river was alright too tonight. the singer dude can't really pull off the (more) tuneful vocals that made it on the record, no doubt comped from an assload of performances. the passion was there though!

Midlake tonight! Hope it's as good as a performance as they had at the 506.

Glad to see the National sold out their Friday night performance. I also can't believe Tegan and Sara sold out their show before Animal Collective did.

you would be surprised. there are a ton of women that bought the shit out of those tickets (tegan & sara) over the last few weeks.

oh yeah, and last time i saw animal collective at cat's cradle (2005 i think), there were like 50 people there. but this one will probably sell out.

^^ yeah!

Midlake at the Local 506 were amazing... I really hope tonight's show is on par with that one. I've been looking forward to this show as much or more than the National show.

There are still Midlake tickets available people---- don't miss this band.

We all are.

Spooky and I were front row center last night right in Mr. Midlake's grill. The Jungler and Balloon Maker were the first two songs that I was introduced to the band so I was excited that they were played last night. And some dude in the crowd reused that "Hotlake" joke that was said during the 506 show. Very lame.

I heard the "hotlake" thing and was like, "WTF?".

That new song they played was fantastic, imo. As was the track that was recorded with the Chemical Brothers that they chose to play.

I was really excited about Balloon Maker---- they played it at the Local 506 as well, iirc, but I was happy to hear it again. I'm so glad I went to that show. Two of the better shows I've seen in the Triangle this year. I was so pissed off to read that the Indy had the Midlake show as an "Eh, take it or leave it" on their weekly concerts section, and I hope no one missed out on a great show by taking the Indy recommendation.

Next up, The National, then 2nd row for Andrew Bird next Wednesday!!

I like that National album, but every time I've seen them perform on TV they look like the stiffest live act in history. Hopefully they start drinking heavily tonight for y'all and rowdy it up.

About Today was off an EP they did called Cherry Tree. My favorite track from that time period. The violinist isn't and "official" member of the band. Every member of the band, including the violinist, signed my Boxer CD and my friends vinyl!

I still maintain that the violinist sketched me out. He kind of killed my buzz but at the same time, it's cool to see "the old guy" is still able to rock out.
