find this kind of interesting ...

One of NASCAR’s greatest partnerships – Childress and Earnhardt – has been expanded with the creation of Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies.Richard Childress and Teresa Earnhardt announced today that the joint venture partnership will combine the Chevrolet engine departments of Richard Childress Racing (RCR) and Dale Earnhardt, Inc. (DEI), with engine development work to begin immediately. Construction of a permanent stand-alone facility located between RCR and DEI will begin later this summer with completion expected by mid 2008. A specific site has not been announced, although a location has been identified pending zoning approval. Until that facility is complete, all work will be divided between the RCR’s engine shop in Welcome, N.C. and DEI’s shop in Mooresville, N.C. It is anticipated that all six RCR and DEI cars will run the first common engine at Daytona in July. Earnhardt-Childress Racing Technologies will develop and build engines for the Chevrolet NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Series teams campaigned by the two companies. (RCR PR)

^^^The timing...concerning recent events...is very odd. This couldn't have come together in the last week, discussions had to have been going on before that.

end of 3rd session, kenseth, gordon, busch, harvick, burton.

most people doing a stop and go, Kenseth got a penalty for too fast exiting pit road. the start of the final session will be gordon, burton, busch, harvick, mark martin, kurt busch

no, I asked a question not related to my driver winning or not. Just figured they werent ready to run the Allstar with COT's.

of course not

because then it wouldn't be an allstar race

it would be the "which hendrick driver do we give a million bucks to?" race

yes, because they're the only ones comfortable with the COTs and driving them good. its not their fault they are awesome and have the best teams and crew and lots of money and great sponsors willing to shell out whatever they need.

They purportedly have 100+ testing days with the COT... many teams have about a dozen. That doesn't detract from what Hendrick has done with the COT. They have brought their resources to bear on the new challenge and the results speak for themselves. They are consistently better prepared each weekend.

I was just watching Montoya's little stunt in turn 2 of lap 1 in the NASCAR Open... I don't know what to say except that he's a little shit who thinks he's a lot better and more talented than he is close to being in reality. Did anyone here him arguing with his crew chief last week? God I hate him.

ended up going to the all-star race. fortunately, one of the 17 drivers i pulled for won ... and not one of the four i loathe: 5, 24, 25, or 48. yay.

damn, HMS haters in the house

regarding the COT, how is it that Gibbs is actually faster most of the time, but their team sucks and has parts break or the pit crew sucked ass and dropped lug nuts.

and montoya last week, his crew chief has been telling him since Mexico in the Busch series race to let people by, even if they weren't faster. In this case he said let steven wallace (i believe) go by so he wouldn't wreck jpm. montoya basically flipped because his cc wasn't letting him actually race and was always telling him to let guys by. Juan is a racer, if you don't let him race he'll get ticked off. Yes, last night's move was stupid. But the team has also been changing his setup without asking him what it's doing and so he's had a car that can't handle worth shit with his driving style, yet isn't fast with the team mates either.

I dont see reference to the million.

It doesn't matter to me, he still has won a bunch this season, he still won one last night, and he's still a damn good driver.

the four heat winners were kenseth, busch, kenseth and of course, harvick.
please show me in the 48 team's race report where it says anything about winning one of the 20-segment heats: http://www.lowesracing.com/articles/20070519/865928.html. pretty sure that's a detail christie would have chosen to write about.
i don't care how great of a driver he is though, he's still a douche.

You mean to tell me that this thread was not bumped by ANYONE for the frickin' Coca-Cola 600!??!?!?!?!?!?! That cut me deep guys!

Basically it was an AWESOME race! I was there in the Diamond Towers for a little while, then my Mom hooked me and my boyfriend up with some infield passes...it was my first time infield. A friend of mine that works for the Speedway came and got me on the golf cart and took me all through the infield; but not the pits.

I got to be in my seat for the first time for a fly-over...I made my bf promise me we could be there for it. I was very impressed! I got it on video, so maybe I'll post it when I am home and can upload it.

I was completely pissed when Jeff Gordon wrecked, and we saw him fly out 10 mins later.

I must say that Jimmie Johnson should have won this race...not just because he is my driver, but because he went from 28 or 29th place (wherever he started) to 4th in the opening 19 laps! He did a tremendous job, and held strong all night.

But yet again... I get to say it!!

GO TEAM HENDRICK!!!!!

CONGRATS TO CASEY MEARS ON HIS FIRST CAREER WIN AT ONE OF THE MOST EXHAUSTING RACES IN THE SEASON!!

Kyle Petty:
Quote :
"WAS IT EVER HARD GOING TO THE TRACK KNOWING YOU PROBABLY WOULD NOT BE COMPETITIVE? “No, it’s never hard going to the racetrack. That’s like saying is it tough going to the golf course or is it tough going fishing? I love it so much. I love to drive a racecar. I love to be around the garage area. I love to be around racing people. I love to be around everybody there. Even when I missed races, I’d get down, but I’d get down on myself, not on the sport. I’d get hard on myself, but not hard on the people or hard on the sport. What I meant by harder running at the back, it’s just a different race running at the back. I was talking to Dale Jarrett and Michael and some of those guys and they’re having to qualify week in and week out. It’s a different kind of racing than they’ve been used to the last 10 or 15 years. They’ve been used to showing up at the race track, jumping in their race cars, making the race and going out and kicking everybody’s rear end. Now, because of the way things are, there’s a different approach to the sport for them. When you have to run 28th or 29th, and you’re asking me, go ask Tony Stewart or Kevin Harvick what it’s like to have a car that doesn’t drive good all day long and they drive along 28th or 29th and then go ask them after they win a race what he feels like. It’s a totally different sport, but it’s still fun no matter what.”"

...so, I think Kyle will 'fire himself' when racing is no longer fun. Stepping into the broadcast booth is his choice at this point and it's going to be fun for him as well.

Quote :
"COMMENT ON MOVING TO TV BOOTH IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS “I’m looking forward to it. I did some stuff before Adam started racing and did some stuff in the booth and enjoyed that part of it. I really did. When Adam started racing obviously I went back to kinda watch him and be a part of his program. When the opportunity came along to be with TNT and be with Turner and work with Weber again, because I’d worked with him before. I really enjoy working with Bill and to work with Wally and some of that group and it just so happens they have six races in the middle of the season that was perfect for me. I’m at that point in my career I’ve got to start looking for my next career and my next job anyhow. Six races is perfect for me because I’ve always done about halfway part time at anything I do. To be able to do the Turner broadcast and to do it from the car and to do some things of the stuff we’re going to try to do this year, it’ll be a little bit more innovative and cutting edge. I think the Turner group will give you that opportunity."
