Summer League in Orlando starts tomorrow and Sammy V likes Jared Dudley.
Quote : | "Vincent was asked about one of the new players, last season's ACC player of the year Jared Dudley, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward who was the 22nd overall selection by the Bobcats in the NBA draft.
"I like his energy," Vincent said. "Always around the ball; I'm impressed with his rebounding ability and he's getting a lot of offensive putbacks."" |

Looks like Wallace has agreed to stay.
"The Charlotte Bobcats and free-agent forward Gerald Wallace have agreed to a contract, the Observer has learned.
A source close to the negotiations said Wallace will sign a six-year deal worth $57 million. The sixth year of the contract will be Wallace's option. He also can earn bonuses worth as much as $2 million each season.
Wallace's contract with the Bobcats, who obtained him in the NBA's expansion draft in 2003, expired at the end of last season, and he briefly became a free agent.

So who is gonna be our leading scorer next year, GForce or Richardson? 7/11/2007 5:55:57 PM |
Maverick1024 All American 4866 Posts user info edit post |
I'll say Richardson, because he's a more natural scorer. I think a lot of times this past year, G Wall was forced to score.
Having said that, Wallace is going to be the team's MVP this year without question IMO. The guy defines the word hustle. BIG BIG day for bobcats basketball. 7/11/2007 6:02:38 PM |

^not sure about that
but damn this team will be better. I'm really excited about this team. Felton, May and Morrison will all be better.
the only reason I'm not sure about playoffs is because several other teams improved as well. The east is still much weaker than the east, but fighting for a playoff spot may be even more competitive. 7/11/2007 6:22:50 PM |

We got a good deal on Wallace but that Carroll deal is still going to cripple our cap flexibility.
We still don't have a center and its 50/50 that Felton ever becomes a good NBA PG
As of right now I think we've got a decent shot to make the playoffs if we can stay relatively healthy though. 7/11/2007 6:23:18 PM |

If their big men stay healthy (thats a big if), they'll be in the playoffs.

i'll say right now we make the playoffs and not only that, we will be AT LEAST a 7 seed, if not a 6 or 5 7/11/2007 6:25:33 PM |

Absolutely incredible news...losing Wallace would have hurt this franchise immensely and probably set it back significantly for a number of years.
Can't wait to watch the 'Cats play next year! No doubt this will be a fun team to watch and we have a damn good shot at making the post-season.
Now let's get a real deal 5 man and continue to help Felton with his layup drills/shooting (cause he stunk it up from the field last year). 7/11/2007 6:36:50 PM |

Wallace and Richardson's combined contracts are less then what Orlando is paying Lewis 7/11/2007 8:12:23 PM |

So what's the lineup?
Felton Richardson Wallace Okafor Brezec ?
Primoz was pretty bad last year, but he was injured and exausted from playing on the Slovenian National team over the summer. This upcoming year is a contract year for him, so maybe he'll step it up.
Or do we go small and start Okafor at C?

I'd prefer the look of
Felton Richardson Wallace Hermann Okafor
Personally, I just can't stand Primoz and hate to see him on the court for any considerable stretch. Hermann is 6-9 and him and Wallace I think can effectively guard most other team's 3's and 4's. The other option is May, who may or may not have eaten himself out of the league by April. 7/11/2007 8:38:40 PM |

Every team needs a good pure shooting role player
carroll fills that role quite nicely, with the added bonus of being able to create his own shot on occasion – and we may have overpaid a little, but with carroll, we know what we’re going to get and how he fits in – and I have enough faith in this organization’s higher-ups to hope that we didn’t pay much more than market value already demanded
It’s starting to come together a little bit now

at the end of the game if we are behind, we can go to richardson
course if we're ahead we just go to carroll and watch him knock down free throw after free throw after free throw 7/12/2007 9:44:47 AM |

I havent had a huge problem with the Matt Carroll contract
he is like a better NBA version of Redick (well maybe not based on JJ's summer league play)
plus, someone else would have probably paid him that kind of money (just look at what Kapono and Walton got) 7/12/2007 10:07:06 AM |

What about a starting lineup of
PG: Felton SG: Richardson SF: Carroll PF: Wallace C: Okafor
It'd probably be the smallest lineup in the east, but damn they'd be fun to watch offensively. Wallace is also probably our team's best rebounder, and toughest interior players. He proved that last year playing at the PF spot. Plus there's not another PF in the game that could stop him from penetrating. 7/12/2007 10:11:43 AM |

their are a good amount of other big man free agents out there... do we have enough money to go after one of them?
Mikki Moore, Jamaal Magloire, Chris Mihm, Mutumbo(if he doesn't retire), Melvin Ely(if we want to bring him back)... their are a few others.. none of these really stick out to me but maybe would be an upgrade over Primoz 7/12/2007 10:57:52 AM |

yeah, after we signed him last night and I read the Bill Simmons chat and saw how confused he was with signing Lewis for that much I started doing research on their stats.
it just doesnt make any sense.
And SI.com has the article on Gforce saying he will be 27, then click on his player page and it has his brithday making it easy to see he is about to be 25 7/12/2007 11:24:07 AM |

yeah according to nba.com he is 24 and will be 25 in a couple weeks...but i've heard he is 26 and will turn 27 in a couple weeks...no idea
lol at Childersburg being gullier than Houston
also I think those numbers are fucked up...Wallace averaged 2+ blocks and steals last year...that 1.0 blocks isnt right, even if its just a "per 40 minutes" stat 7/12/2007 11:30:36 AM |

We beat the Magic last night 95-77. Hollins, Davidson, and Dudley all played good minutes and had good production. The surprise is this guy on our roster, Gabe Muoneke who dropped 31 pts in 36 min on 11 for 14 shooting. JJ continues to impress scoring 24pts.
Quote : | " Hollins wasn’t the only one who impressed on Wednesday. Gabe Muoneke stepped into the starting lineup and scored a game-high 31 points on 11-15 shooing, including 4-7 from three-point range, after averaging just 6.0 points in the first two contests.
Point guard Bobby Brown also came through with his best summer performance, scoring 17 points and dishing out five assists while turning the ball over just twice in 32 minutes.
“It’s critical for those guys to come out and play like that in the summer, particularly for a guy like Gabe who is getting a little long in the tooth, because he doesn’t have many opportunities left,” Bobcats assistant coach Jeff Capel, who is coaching Charlotte’s summer league team, said. “That’s why we put him in the starting lineup today. With Alan, who would have been in the starting lineup, not being here, we knew we could go with (Jackie) Manuel or Gabe, and we decided to give Gabe the opportunity to show what he can do, and he proved himself today.”
Two rookies who have shined throughout the summer league didn’t lose any of their luster either. Jared Dudley scored 17 points, hauled down a team-high nine rebounds and dished out a team-best six assists, while fellow draftee Jermareo Davidson added 11 points with four rebounds and one blocked shot.
“That’s team basketball,” Capel said. “I thought we were very selfless on both ends of the floor. I thought yesterday we were a little selfish. Today we did a great job of playing off of each other offensively and covering for each other defensively.”
Charlotte will next take on New Jersey at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the RDV Sportsplex. You can catch all your Bobcats action right here live. " |
