go to a song on hard, try ur best, fail it and do the 'practice', the practice wont let you fail, just learn to know exactly where your fingers are at all times and then youll be able to slide them sideways to get the orange fret

youll even learn to know whether to begin the song shifted over a space away from "home row" if it starts off with high notes


and on the hammer-ons / let-offs (which i cant do the proper way at all and dont even try) i go into "street fighter/mortal kombat" mode where i just randomly try to hit notes and sometimes you can learn to guess the right way and get lucky and hit a long string of ridiculousness

and it screws me not to be able to do it with songs like "barracuda" and the higher tier songs with strumming that wears the fuck out of your thumb

I've tried strumming up and down but I just can't do it. Even though I SWEAR I strum at the right time, I hardly ever make it more than a few notes without messing up with something.

I tried the up/down thing once, and the problem I ran in to is that I couldn't get a feel for when exactly it registered a stroke from an up to a down. The only time i'll go up and down, like for others, is when it's a really fast set of the same fret.

I've never had my thumb get tired. It's always my fretting hand gets insanely cramped up in my fingers and my wrist. When I first started playing GH, i could only last maybe 2 songs before NEEDING a break, but I could probably go for a good hour or so now.
