^^ Are you a fucking dumbass? Why would you type the spoiler, then put up a spoiler tag saying dont click this link unless you want to see what i already spoiled one line up.

There are a few more "spoilers" in that interview besides what you "spoiled" and what he "spoiled." He provided the link to confirm the one "spoiler", but with the "spoiler" tags to denote more "spoilers" are in the link.

And god damn man... This is an internet discussion about the tv show Lost. "fucking dumbass" is absurd to use here.

I dont consider knowning that jacks dad was the one in the cabin to be a spoiler.

Its been posted in this thread before, its confirmed in a public interview, and its already happened in the show, its not a future occurence.

As mentioned, I posted the spoiler alert because there are other things in that link that give insight to things we couldnt possibly know yet.

So chill with the nerd e-angst.

No - what was posted in this thread was a picture that was a photoshop of Jacks dad in the cabin. It hadn't been confirmed that it was him in the cabin.

That was no photoshop.

It was a screen cap, big difference.

does lost have any connection with saw? Maybe not so much anymore but it seems like season 3 especially was taken from the same exact line of thought as lost. Ben was Zap in saw and if you watch his character you will see a close relation in the charaters of pre-twist zap, jigsaw and ben linus.

Also the flashbacks, and style of twists are strikingly similar.

this was at the bottom of page 11, so i'll repost...

here is my theory...

the "cabin" and whatever is inside the cabin (jacob, jack's dad, etc...) are not real. They are images that are produced by a power similar to the black smoke monster...

it is some sort of nanotechnology brought about by magnetic anomalies on the island. It can be controlled to manipulate reality and the images people see.

my basis behind this theory? Ben and Locke walked past a "border" of some type of black substance on the ground before they approached jacob's cabin...

this same type of black substance was seen on the ground before locke tried to find the cabin while he was leading the lostees in a couple episodes back.

this black powder substance has the same root/powers as the "black smoke monster"...
it produces images that aren't really there...hence old walt, jack's dad...etc...

I really think this could be possible. With the special relativity, maybe something in the triangle is moving much much much faster than the rest of the world and a few years have passed for the rest of the world?

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but have they ever been to the cabin in day light? From what I remember the only times they have seen the cabin is at night, so maybe it has something to do with the light? Maybe there is only enough light produced from the cabin that it can be seen at night when there isn't any brighter lights to cancel it out?
I also could be totally wrong there too.

The funniest thing about that theory for me is that I thought about that over a year ago. When I was younger, I read this cheesy book (teenish novel) titled "Singularity". It was about twin boys who had found this spot on Earth in which time moved much slower. In a night's span, the one twin boy had spent a year outgrowing his brother and getting bigger.

Interesting correllations:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_singularity

Quote :
"If a rotating singularity is given a uniform electrical charge, a repellent force results, causing a ring singularity to form. The effect may be a stable wormhole, a non-point-like puncture in spacetime which may be connected to a second ring singularity on the other end. Although such wormholes are often suggested as routes for faster-than-light travel, such suggestions ignore the problem of escaping the black hole at the other end, or even of surviving the immense tidal forces in the tightly curved interior of the wormhole.
"

Goes well with the image of the "Volatile Triangles" and polar bear in Africa.

Well if it keeps consistent with the time differential we have seen of the shell that was shot from the boat, time moves 8 times faster outside of the island (shell should have taken 3 mins, but it took ~24). So if they have been on the island for I think it was around 108 days (it may have been 180, I'm not sure), that is definitely over 2 yrs in real time. Now the crew from the ship did say that they had only been lost for 108 days, but we also know they are hiding something and they could easily just be saying that because they know the effects of the island.

while would support some kind of time-bending explaination or time moving slower on the island than off or something like that, I think it opens up a whole lot of unexplainable physics plot holes. We do know that real-time communication is possible between the island and off, like the phone calls from the island to the boat, and Charlie talking to Penny last season, whereever she was. Also, the russian picked up and watched satellite TV feeds, presumably in real-time also. And the external time-line of the freightors seems to be consistent with the timeline on the island. We know that they've been on the island for ~100 days, and I think the freightor people made mention of that too. Of course, they could be part of some conspiracy too, knowing that it's been 200 days or 2 years or whatever since the crash, but knowing that only 100 days have passed on the island, but i doubt that....

^ Daniel also made a big deal of "go exactly the way we came", and Ben sort of did the same thing when Michael and Walt took the boat, so maybe there are certain holes within the giant field that does not alter time.

yeah, i agree it's clear that is something fishy with space and time, and you have to know what you're doing when going on or leaving the island.
(the Lost and Gone Forever blog speculates some kind of "bubble" around the island - http://lost-and-gone-forever.blogspot.com/ )
but i don't think the plot would hold up if the island was on an entirely different timescale than the rest of the world, where time on the island, e.g. traveled 1/2 as fast as the rest of the world. that would make radio transmissions between the island and the real world, which we know do and can occur, time travel.

I think tonight is going to be one of the most important episodes in the entire series, just as far as seeing how far they go with time travel. From the look of it they are going to give some explanation as to what happens to the helicopter... I really hope its not some stupid explanation and its something that while far fetched, actually makes some sense.

yeah I had a feeling he was experiencing moments from his past, since he kind of had flash forwards in the past when he was trying to buy an engagement ring for Penny. I vaguely remembered that he left for the military after his forced break-up with Penny.

Penny's dad was bidding on the last known artifact from the black rock..
the guy said the black rock was lost at sea.... we know it ended up on the island..

also, penny's dad was the one sponsoring the race around the world that desmond entered, and it led to him crashing on the island...

we have also seen penny's dad (whitmore industries) on things on the island (pregnancy tests) and stuff

it is all coming together slowly but surely, great episode

^^^ I am pretty sure that is what it was about. If you remember Farraday was pretty much having the same symptoms as Desmond except for the bleeding nose. Farraday knew he would go into this state so he kept a diary as reminder on how to keep himself grounded.
