Evans throws for 335 and 347 and 3 TDs in each and you guys still can't give him any credit?

Sure Bowens played really well, but Daniel made a lot of good smart plays today. And let's not forget he was doing it today without our most reliable receiver in Dunlap. Why you all push for Beck is beyond me.

^^^Yeah, their QB getting injured sealed it for us. I'm kind of glad it happened, but I also hope he is able to play for them next week.

^^ i'm not pushing for beck (right now), i'm just saying ecu/uva right now is exactly like bc/fsu last season. i don't have to tell you how last season turned out.

evans can throw lobs to single coverage. sometimes it works, a lot of times it doesn't.

i'm as glad to get the win as anybody, that was a great game. but i can call a spade a spade, and i'm not going to crown evans when i've seen him do this before.

Personal opinion, we would not have stood a chance in this game with Beck as QB. He just makes too many bad decisions, and for whatever reason it seems like he overthrows or underthrows his receivers a lot for his level of athleticism.

Really, what does Beck have on Evans? The ability to throw farther, and that's about it. And Evans did just fine with the long passes today. He could have done better, sure, but the receivers still caught the ball for big plays, which is what needs to happen. I'm beginning to think a lot of this board has just been spoiled by P. Rivers.

^^^ He should be alright. I think I read (can't remember if it was espn, n&o, etc.) that it was just severe cramps. Must have been that time of the month.

I think he's a mediocre QB who just recently gained the confidence and ability to play at a level that should be expected of a college quarterback. That said, I think he did well in the UVA game.

all you kids talking about the student sections....

it was full except they let people continue to fill 7/8 until people start coming out saying its full before they close it. twice this season i have gotten a 7/8 stamp and ended up in 14 because there was NO room in 7/8 and 3 people can fit in every 2 seats so thats why the late sections are empty.

7/8 are like 120% full

why did nobody think uva was a big win. when is the last time we beat a team ranked 15 or higher?
nobody was at the bell tower.

Yeah, on the radio, the Groh said that Sewell was having cramps all over and they decided to leave him out. It definitely helped because our defenses inability to stop that option read was about to piss me off. Evans' luck is bound to run out though. He uses the throw and pray method and Bowens saved him a few times. The o-line has helped a lot in the past 2 games and given him time to think a little, but every time he gets out of the pocket, there's the worry it's going the other way or he's going to take a big loss. And until our line can figure out the concept of run blocking, then evans and our receivers are in for a rough road. Other than Eugene's 37yd run, he wasn't getting much.

^UVA was bound to fall so it wasn't as much of a surprise.

"making a bowl" imo is no accomplishment.

given how this season started, that'd be cool... but to just make any shit bowl and call the season a success is a stretch.

ncstate football has never done anything more than "make a bowl" so it would be an accomplishment for a basketball school.

does anybody have pics from the game? gene galin or something?

you fuckers are unbelievable. Evans is the quarterback. I don't care if Beck is better. Beck showed the inability to read a zone offense, a man offense, and any other offense they could possibly throw at us. We've had 2 great performances out of Evans for the last 2 weeks and we can still reach a bowl game. If that happens, it would be nothing different than last years basketball team, losing 10 conference games, and making it to the championship.

are you completely retarded, or just being a dick. i can't tell which.

we were 3-9 last year. missed a bowl the year before that. missed a bowl two years before that. (my bad on the years, hell i was at the USF bowl game). we've won 1 ACC game (UVA) since the damn FSU game last year. we changed coaches, changed systems, had a pretty poor recruiting class and started the season 1-5 with that 1 win over a 1-AA team.

i don't think we'll make a bowl, and i think it's way too early too even think about it, but yeah,
making "any shit bowl" at this point would be a huge success.

and this:

is a pretty badass photo

you people bitching about evans throwing "jump balls" to receivers in single coverage need to stfu.

We havent had a quarterback capable of finding the single coverage for 4 years. Plus some of those throws were MONEY and you are supposed to throw jump balls to 6'4" receivers.

they weren't all jump balls. especially the first one and the last one were fly routes where he lead the wr perfectly into the endzone and the balls were on the money. Evans has been on the level of rivers the last 2 weeks but he was below the level of jay davis the rest of the season. I hope he can stay this way.

the 2 games last year were nothing like these 2 games. he threw for like 150 yards in those games and only had a few good drives.

while he did throw some jump balls . . . they were in the minority. Both TD passes to Bowens were nice as well as several others to Bowens. And you can't really call the short passes over the middle jump balls either. He had quite a few passes to wide open recievers and while some of thsoe weren't perfect and the reciever had to come back to it . . . those aren't "jump balls" either.

^^^If you consider that he has had time to throw the past 2 weeks, this is new. Jump balls into double coverage are completely different from jump balls...or hell...well thrown passes into double coverage. I did NOT see this from him in the last 9 games of last season. Neither did you.

I'm about to go watch the game so I may change my mind, but they looked like great throws yesterday when I was there.

oh they are great passes

that one to Eugene at the ECU game was incredibleeeee.

the ones last night he kept seeing a single matchup on Bowens knowing that corner had/could be burnt and was just airing it out over the top and letting your playmaker make plays. thats what a good QB does, hes not great, but with time to throw he is lookin alot better.

that's exactly what i'm saying! he's had two good games (thanks to his receivers, SEEN THIS BEFORE). if it keeps up, then great, but i'm not about to crown evans after two good games, b/c he's been crowned after two good games before, and it wasn't legit the last time. why in the hell would you assume it is now?

^^^^Whats with all this pessimistic bullshit, sounds like someone is stuck in the Amato/Sendek era mindset. Is it really THAT hard to believe that our new coaching staff is actually doing their job and developing players as the season goes on? This is completely different from last season when our offense basically regressed as the season went on and fell apart. This season we seem to be getting better and better every week, so why try and discredit the improvements that TOB and our players have made this season just because you are used to being disappointed.

I was at the UVA Game, and the O-line was giving Evans time to throw the ball. Evans wasn't trying to force his throws. The defense was playing lights out...and I was impressed with the crowd even though the place was only 90% filled.

Daniel Evans DESERVES to play the rest of the season, b/c despite his first game of the season, he has proven he can handle the pressure...and even against a solid team such as UVA. If the O-Line gives him time against Miami, and our receivers get open..we'll be JUST FINE with Evans behind center next Saturday!

GO PACK!
